This place can be as good as the House of Commons at times.

I've saved almost exactly £1,000 on Tracker (both gas and electric) over SVR in a 20 month period, but I've done the sums and jumped onto Agile as of yesterday.
I see some risk but at the moment Agile is cheaper for me (in Eastern region) with no load shifting, so with a modest amount of effort - still cooking in the peak but no washing/drying/dishwashing, I expect it to be cheaper - let's see!0 -

I don't know if I will be able to rejoin Tracker in 9 months, but logically, if I think it's likely to be cheaper on Agile for the next 9 months I don't then expect it to be suddenly cheaper again on Tracker, so why would I want to rejoin.....or am I missing something?0

If your usage pattern in winter is heavier and more weighted to the expensive timeslots as compared with summer, then you might find Tracker cheaper for that period and Agile cheaper for the rest of the year. There are a lot of variables at play, so different households will reach different conclusions on what will work best for them.I expect the wholesale price to continue to fluctuate in an unpredictable manner, and that too will influence the difference between tariffs.1

Forgive me for harping on about my view that the sensible (least worst) way to choose between tariffs is to examine the comparative performance over ideally a complete business cycle. Rather than get hung up over short term fluctuations, unless that's what turns you and the washing machine on at 3 am (regularly). Mid cycle tariff updates don't help of course.Telegraph Sam
There are also unknown unknowns - the one's we don't know we don't know0 -
Still on Tracker here, I have been using Octopus Compare for the last month and shifting usage to cheaper Agile times as much as I can, it has showed I would save 67p over the month, this would be less in the summer. So not worth it for me when considering downsides.1

And so we move on to the news that an SVT "average bill" is set to fall by 12%. Regional pricing data here. To me this seems not at all competitive with unhedged tariffs like Tracker and I'm left questioning why this is lower than the 15% prediction given where wholesale prices have gone recently. It seems to me wholesale prices would have to go up quite a bit for any of us Tracker customers to pay this much.

I do wish they'd just publish the maximum unit rates, but to me this seems not at all competitive with unhedged tariffs like Tracker and I'm left questioning why this is lower than the 15% prediction given where wholesale prices have gone recently.
