Can you provide actual figures out of the smart meters fitted (some 54% of all meters now I believe) that have been remotely disconnected?knight123 said:
Presumably you are going to get them fitted? Unless you're not able to pay your bill and are worried about being remotely disconnected, there's really no downside.daveoc22 said:I've been on tracker for about a year without smart meters. The email says that smart meters are now required but I have until renewal in Feb 25 to have them fitted, after that it will have to be a different tariff if I've not had them fitted,
I await your reply.....or lack of0 -
Oh to be clear, I don't think it's a genuine risk at all - think the panic about smart meters is up there with chemtrails.MultiFuelBurner said:

I just think that if you are someone who is on the breadline and really struggling with cost of living, hearing scare stories about utilities being disconnected and worrying about this is far more understandable than the 'big government is stealing my data' nonsense.2 -
If someone is struggling the most a supplier will do is change it from credit to prepayment but that would still involve a court ruling.(This applies to dumb and smart meters)knight123 said:

Unless there has been criminal activity such as stealing electricity or meter tampering I am not aware that a supply can be disconnected. (Smart or otherwise) but I stand to be corrected.

For a supply to be disconnected it takes the same rules as a physical disconnection, court order, warrant etc
To my knowledge there has never been anyone disconnected in this manner, all the 'news' has been conjecture from the media trying to incite hate for smart meters.4.29kWp Solar system, 45/55 South/West split in cloudy rainy Cumbria.2 -
For the benefit I doubt - I agree with all of you

I just meant I judge people less if they've been fed nonsense about their supply being cut off, compared to the usual 'I don't want the government seeing when I put my heating on' stuff...4 -
Time to switch to Agile I think given the latest Cornwall insight predictions and the low costs predicted for the rest of the year. Just a little.earlier than expected.
Even with the 9 months embargo still means a rejoin come November if required.
I think others run the 3 months of Tracker and 9 months Agile. How has that worked out for you?1 -
looking at cheap electric this weekend i think, going to be a bit windy
btw i still not had a email yet about change of tariff, i hope they have forgotten about me0 -
We are quite new to all this Tracker/Agile up until the 03/03/2023 on Octopus Go 5p/13p, changed to ECO7 for a short while the onto Flux when it was first introduced, in November we changed to Tracker for gas, Agile for import and left our export on the Flux tariff.

Thanks for heads up. I got what I thought was the dreaded email a few minutes ago but it turned out to be confirming a win on spin the wheel ( my first in 3 years). If my lucky streak continues maybe I won’t get one.northernstar007 said:looking at cheap electric this weekend i think, going to be a bit windy

Gas seems to be creeping up a bit each day. Guess because it's gone cold again but not as much sun this time?
I'm a bit nervous riding the gas tracker, but I guess as long as it stays under 7p I need to stay calm and happy! 😬😀PPI success. Banding success. Double Dip PCN cancelled! South facing solar (Midlands) and battery. Savings Session supporter (is it worth it now!?)1
