There are no other suppliers using a day ahead wholesale price daily price .The ones which worked like that all went bust in 2021 as they were offering much cheaper rates than the big 6hubb said:
I don't have any fears, I just don't like being forced into something that won't necessarily benefit me other than fulfilling a meaningless agenda. I shall look at other tracker tariffs on other providers that won't demand you have a smarty pants meter.BellaBlondykeTheThird said:@hubbYep, I see your caps work , SO DO MINE! You are all obviously in the smart tracker club but I will trust the article over a few on this forum. If you want to stay deluded that smart meters will save the world then good for you.
I have had a look at your profile and threads and posts and you seem to take advice from other knowledgeable people on the other sections of the MSE forum.
Why would you dismiss what this whole thread is about (all 448 pages) and the savings that can be made explained by the knowledgeable people here. This is MSE after all and many her can attest to saving 20-40% of their energy costs in the past 365 days.
There is obviously something behind your distrust of smart meters so why don't you fill us in on your fears?
I have been on Tracker now all year and on every day the kwh rate has been much lower than any other available one year fix anywhere in the UK .Not one day last year from Jan 1 st to Jan 31 st has it been higher than the capped rate .Octopus Tracker is currently the lowest kwh rates anywhere in the UK .
I have dumb meters and to make sure I stay on Tracker I have applied for smart meters . When I can get my gas at average of between 4 and 5 p a kwh I don t want to risk getting booted off .
You seem to have been reading too about the risks , but IMO there are no risks involved because if world events do go crazy and the whloesale rates go s bonkers we can all move off back to the safety of high priced Flexible rates .This takes "up to 14 days " which can mean moving back to safety bewtween 1 to 14 days .
Tracker WILL benefit you .Just calculate your daily kwh usages of gas and electric against Flexibles 27.8 p kwh electric and 7 p /kwh gas agsints todays rates on Tracker today Jan 2 which is 13.76 p kwh elecrtic and 4.26 p/kwh gas. Do the simple maths !0 -

I would like to work out my savings on Tracker vs SVR more accurately than I have been.
So far I have just been using the average tracker price per month and would like to apply it daily to my daily usage. (probably won't be massive difference but still would like to do it.)
Logged into my Octopus account and can only seem to download my readings which are half hourly and will take quite some work I think to extract the daily readings (been on Tracker 6 months now).
Is there a way that I can easily download my daily readings from Octopus that I'm missing?
My only other option would be to try and copy the daily readings from my bills?0 -
Octopus Compare app is probably the simplest option.

+1 for Octopus Compare
The free version lets you compare what you're paying with what you would pay on another tariff for the last day, week, and month.
You need the paid version to compare the last year or custom dates (though it's not much, £4.99 a year and there's a free trial).2 -
The weather is forecast to become calmer and colder by the end of the week.mmmmikey said:The price is creeping back up, just over 16p/kWh for me. A fair bit higher than it has been for the last few weeks, but if it settles at that level I'll be well pleased. If you look at the demand and wind/solar forecasts it's not unreasonable to expect it to settle there, but probably need to leave it a few days before making any predictions for the month ahead.0 -
The summarised prices from your bills will give the correct average. Tot up all the kWh figures from each bill, then tot up how much each month was billed. Divide total cost by total number of kWh, then add VAT. That's your personal average unit price.LtMike77 said:I would like to work out my savings on Tracker vs SVR more accurately than I have been.

I think he's exactly the sort of person who should stay clear of Tracker. It could end badly for someone who doesn't understand how it works, and doesn't even understand the difference between a bill and a monthly DD. I could see him joining Tracker, then setting his DD to say £90 because "Some one said you save at least 30%". Then in six months time a big tantrum because debt has built up.SAC2334 said:
