It's almost a suck-it-and-see scenario and I'm not sure how much confidence I would put in what I was told if I put the question to OP over the phone. It seems unlikely there will be further universal government energy bill support, but if there is in the future, it would be impossible to say what form it would take. Likely it won't even be the same government who provides it. Meanwhile, we are free to switch from Tracker to an alternative tariff, and it will be actioned within a maximum of 10 days. So if circumstances change, so can you.I'd be interested, now the pricing is at a suitable level, whether there is a need to prevent people returning within 9 months should they opt to leave the tariff.0

I think there will always be a need for long waiting periods to switch to prevent people swapping tariffs on a whim every time the price changes by more than a few pennies. I’ve already seen new customers swap off Tracker then use the 14 day cooling off period to come back again when prices went into the low 20’s a few weeks ago.masonic said:Telegraph_Sam said:Sorry for being slow on the uptake but is it or is it not possible to say / confirm/ guess / forecast if those on "endless" Tracker tariffs will be affected by price caps now and in the future? An exit fee would probably be better, based on that example. Waived of course for those leaving due to a contractual change.Griffindog said:

"on a whim" , prevention of, tallies with my thoughts on taking a multi-month average price as part of the decision process on leaving or staying with Tracker. I think there is one or other of the web sites - mysmartenergy, gastracker or even OP themselves - that make this doable.Telegraph Sam

OP stands for Original Poster are you using it for Octopus Energy?0

OE would make more sense, Octopus Energy.

If I have interpreted the graphics correctly it is gratifying to see on gastracker that my 1 year average Tracker price has been consistently below the (capped?) SVT. Both fuels but the advantage seems to be greater with electricity. My elec average is marginally below the 20 p milestone.Telegraph Sam
