I don't understand your last sentence. Historically, when tariffs have ceased to be offered (eg; Go Faster and the Tesla Energy Plan) Octopus has allowed existing customers to remain on the tariff until the end of the contract period.
We shouldn't forget that the current version of Tracker is a variable tariff, so they can give notice to end the tariff at any time.
Those still on older versions will have a defined contract end date of course...

Could well be the real reason they switched it over, will be interesting to see if it stays variable as EPG is no longer subsidising it which the email claims is the reason it is now variable.

Think I'm too late but is still possible to switch back to Tracker from the standard variable tariff. We were on Tracker last year but switched to variable when things headed upwards. We don't have a smart meter as this would entail demolishing the cupboard over the door with existing meter etc.
There is a six month waiting list now, and a smart meter requirement... so that may be an impediment to you switching...
Does that six month wait also apply to those who's Tracker contract ends soon and who need a smart meter to carry on with Tracker? i.e they can switch to a new tracker but any smart meter required won't actually happen for months?

Just some further info, a tweet later on clarifies:
"Everyone who's already on our waitlist, who meets the right criteria, will be switched across to Tracker on 1st July"

So, no waiting list but it won't be a 'hop on hop off' option any more.  You either stick for the long term, or have to be 100% sure you want to leave.

Just thinking aloud here, to get it straight in my head.  I could just ask them but not 100% confident I'd get a correct answer, and we need to be prepared.

Existing customer, our fixed term ends in August.
Next Tracker version (with the 100p cap) when our current one finishes will be a new tariff, so existing customer on what will then be an old tariff is irrelevant.
So no smart meter exception for anyone not already on the Nov 22 tariff.

    Does that sound right?

I was told on 11 May that I had been renewed but no confirmation email or cap details. Today I was told I’d need to go on the waiting list.

I disputed this and await the next response. I think I will ring tomorrow.

I read it as a clear signal that if the price spikes and 50,000 people all try to switch tariff on the same day, they are not promising that it will happen straight away...
