I've joined the Tracker waiting list as suggested by bristolleedsfan, Qyburn and Griffindog.  Thanks all.

Can one move away from a tracker or you tied in for a year or two year period the same with a fixed?

Just a small related comment about Octopus customer service. I rather understood that it was supposed to be good, but that’s certainly not my experience, in that they rarely seem to respond to anything, whether social media or email, and such responses as you get are copy and paste without actually answering questions. British Gas are pretty bad, but I don’t see that Octopus are any better.
I have never been disappointed with Twitter DM C.S, including during the last 2 days.  :)

As others have said Peco141, i would suggest you read up about the tariff before switching (when you eventually get the invite) With the "smarter" octopus tariffs, people should really understand what they are letting themselves in for, to avoid confusion and the inevitable "octopus have cheated me" type comments that some then give when they dont understand how it works or when there are some hiccups along the way with billing.

Tracker has been a great tariff to be on till now, the EPG has protected people from very high prices and we haven't yet seen the potential super high prices that the upper limit on the latest tariffs have potentially exposed people to.

    I suggest you read:

    https://octopus.energy/smart/tracker/
    https://octopus.energy/tracker-faqs/

The problem lies, with martin lewis "recommending" tariffs like tracker and agile, people will sign up blindly not knowing there are "potential" pit falls.

There are certainly potential pitfalls - limited to some extent though by the caps and the ability to get off the tariff as soon as you look like hitting the rocks.  That's the crunch point and tricky decision time - whether to pull out immediately or to weather the storm in case it calms down again quickly (knowing that you're not likely to get quickly back onto the Tracker tariff again).

Rather like that sell or not to sell decision when there's a stock market crash.  There are no answers.

Exactly, how many people understand that Agile is billed on usage and not meter readings? The loss of a single 30 minute data segment will cause automatic billing to fail.

Another difference between electric tracker and Agile, is the average unit rate for the day seems to be higher on Agile consistently.

So if you like the idea of using a tracker type tariff, but do not remove your usage away from an average usage pattern then tracker is probably the better tariff.

V2 has a cap of 11p and an SC of 15.09p

I think someone posted earlier in the thread, they seem to be letting the early tracker customers keep on the same tariff, but unclear on the newer ones which had much higher take up (v3 onwards).

I will try to keep my Agile tariff and tracker v3 gas, and will report back here if I am successful or not, they dont expire until summer though so be a couple of months before I report.

The main barrier now is that you can get on agile within 24hrs but you can't get on tracker for 6 months. (Whether you're a new customer, existing customer or even if already a tracker customer with the other fuel)
