Quoted comment is from a senior member Octopus team that a customer posted onto a Facebook group at the end of March, screenshot is v3 renewal, 

“In terms of Tracker, customers no longer auto-renew onto Tracker. They instead roll onto Flexible Octopus and must contact us to go back onto it. I believe my V3 Tracker 1 year term will end in July. With regards to staying on it and smart meter requirements to do so, what happens in the following scenario? I do not currently have any smart meters. I only have gas on Tracker with Octopus. My electricity is with a different supplier. In any case, due to distance between gas and electric meters, it's highly unlikely that a smart gas meter would be able to communicate with a smart electric meter. Does this mean that I won't qualify for Tracker in future? Or is there an exception in this case?

My gas smart meter is outside front door, electricity smart meter is in understairs cupboard in kitchen at back of house.

I would be very surprised if tracker gas is best gas tariff  going into next winter based on current version product cap,

They seem consistent that since 14 February only customers with smart meters can go on current tracker tariff version and that includes those on expiring fixed terms v3 onwards.

I agree, historically (i.e. before the Putin inspired energy crisis) folk with EVs would use Octopus Agile until autumn and then switch to Octopus Go and  switch back again to GO after winter - bit of historical context on pricing related to wholesale costs.

Tracker suddenly became interesting around late spring time 2022 when the 12 month fixed caps were a good protection against possible higher energy costs going into late autumn / winter.  The Government EPG support made both tracker and agile even better over the last 6 months - come 1st July when the EPG support ends all bets are off and the standard SVT tariff or other variants like Econ 7 or specific EV tariffs might be a  batter option depending on where wholesale are heading at that time.

Tracker and Agile going into into next winter based on latest caps without the government EPG support is a big risk and I expect folk to turn up on here moaning about it as they did not fully understand what they signed up to.

since I am not on a water meter I am tempted to turn my electric shower, washing machine, tumble dryer, kettle & microwave (no electric oven sadly) on but it most certainly isnt eviromentally friendly to do so ! - also my neighbours wont appreciate the washing machine at midnight

That's a really twisted way of looking at agile price drops. Purposely wasting energy for 3-5p kWh😳

Would it do a 90C quick wash with no spin? Good as a cleaning cycle with a bit less rattle.

There's a reason they are paying people to use it, to get rid of the excess rather than having to turn off the equipment generating it.

yes I would turn of the spin cycle as they probably cannot hear just the normal wash cycle

Lol I know but at gone midnight turning the oven on 😂😂😂 for 5.6p kWh

Meanwhile, the mysterious Tracker waiting list continues, allegedly still at 6 months. I wonder what the actual wait time might be. I hear and see different stories.
