The reason Agile and Tracker tariffs are currently no brainers is due to huge more so for E, potential EPG reductions Octopus state tariffs qualify for .....
up to 33.43p / kWh discount against your electricity unit rates.

I spotted this on HUKD as well.
Being able to monitor prices isn't an issue for me as I work from part time from home and can keep checking.
On HUKD they make it sound easy that if prices spike then going to Octopus Standard (I'm on Shell Standard now) will be easy. Just a matter of going into your account and switching from Tracker to Standard.
Is that the case, or may it be more tricky than that?1 -

Switching away should be easy - just an email or phone call. There is a "move out" button on the account page, which might do the same thing - I'd always thought it meant moving home. I think they've introduced a 30 day limit before you can switch back to a smart tariff - it makes sense to stop people picking and choosing on a daily basis - but I can't find that in writing anywhere. Perhaps they only invoke it if you overdo it.4.7kWp (12 * Hyundai S395VG) facing more or less S + 3.6kW Growatt inverter + 6.5kWh Growatt battery. SE London/Kent. Fitted 03/22 £1,025/kW + battery £24950

I've just made the switch to Octopus based on that thread on HUKD. A little nervous about it I suppose even though I like to think i'm fairly pro-active with things like this.
I'd appreciate some thoughts on the direct debit situation though. I plan on switching to the tracker tariff as soon as I'm on supply with them, but is it better to set a low fixed amount for the direct debit and then manually pay the difference each month ?.
Probably down to me being autistic but I'm pretty obsessive about what goes out of my account each month and I prefer it to be fixed amounts so I know exactly how much my outgoings are. I'm also on UC and PIP so that's probably why I'm fretting over a potential variable direct debit catching me out and being huge one month.1 -

Thanks bristolleedsfan. If says in the FAQs that you can switch in your account online but I can't see a way of doing it. Not that emailing/ringing/DM on Twitter is much of a hassle anyway.4.7kWp (12 * Hyundai S395VG) facing more or less S + 3.6kW Growatt inverter + 6.5kWh Growatt battery. SE London/Kent. Since they stopped offering fixed rate tariffs they removed change tariff option within online dashboard0
