I am not sure the version number will help as I have been told 2 different ones  and then said that I have been put on one that doesn't exist anymore or something.

If you submit readings you will get a bill (usually a few hours later) and that tells you which version you are on. Then you can look on the historic tariffs to find the details.
The tariff version is also shown in the tariffs section of the My Account page on the Octopus website.

You have all been so helpful thank you.

I guess I will find out what my caps are when the wholesale prices go up and then I can see if they match what I was promised. At the moment the version stated on my account (I am guessing) has much higher caps then I thought I was getting - we shall see- I am reading to start another fight if needed!

I would like to try a spreadsheet (Excel) but not sure how what structure to have. If anyone could spare the time and could kindly share the headings you have, how often you fill it in, etc I would be really grateful.

The IOS App OctopusWatch is currently in beta testing for gas. I have no idea when it will be released.

Your bill will tell you which tariff you are on then if you go to ‘our tariffs’ on the Octopus website and look at historic tariffs you will find the caps.

My spreadsheet is simple (my readings are charged at yesterdays price hence the 2 dates) total = kwh x unit rate + standing charge. There are sum totals at the bottom.
