  • I got an email to say my DD was being reduced to £xxx which equates to the normal DD minus £66. I would have preferred them to add credit to my account and keep the DD as it was really but that’s a whole different thread.

I presume there is some fiendishly clever formula for this, but what is it?
I'm in the same boat. There is some sort of model behind the scenes, but I don't think Octopus have shared it with the world.
They just say (in the Tracker FAQ) that, if you don't have a smart meter, they use industry data to estimate daily usage. I always found it to be very accurate on the odd occasion that they didn't use smart meter data - no more than around 10-15p, which is quite impressive.
I don’t have smart meters either. The daily usage does vary slightly but they don’t tend to put the highest usage on the dearest days. If you want to take advantage of cheaper days you can submit readings daily (the reading is applied to the day before).  Although your balance might update with usage after submitting a reading they sometimes incorporate several readings into one bill.

Oh no!  It had the price yesterday.  I know I can use the formula with the Nordpool data but I never get it accurate, it was more convenient just to be able to check

I am usually at the top of the queue when it comes to defending Octopus but, to date, I have heard absolutely nothing from them with regard to my monthly DD payment (due out tomorrow) or my future tariffs (which as it happens will not change). If I click on the link in the App 'see your email' there is no email.

It will be interesting to see if the email ever arrives.
I did receive an email, but in my online account, when I click the 'see my email' link, it's not there! :D

It says the e-mails don't include conversations, so maybe as these e-mails appear to have been manually sent out, they haven't registered there.

They changed my DD several days ago, no e-mail about that that.  Which tariff(s) are you on?  Odd that you haven't had communication about that though, Go etc. customers heard before Tracker/Agile even though nothing's changing for them.

I seem to have caused some confusion - I did get an email, as in landed in my email account inbox, but in the Octopus online account, there's a link view your EPG tariff email, but click on it, and it's not there.
Talking of DD, I pay variable DD; my next bill, due any day now, and its associated DD a couple of weeks later, will be for September - I wonder how the Energy Grant credit is going to work? The £66 pound payment not made until late October, after September's DD  is taken?

Thinking about, presumably, as I would not normally have a credit balance, the way it will be implemented is that it's factored into the calcuations for October's bill, and while the bill would be generated in early November, it still means that it applies to October?

Just put it back up to where you want it to be...
You will see this message in the DD section of your online account...

Electricity up again for tomorrow; for me, it should be 35.14p/kWh, so above EPG but below Tracker v2 UR cap... so, 33.07p/kWh?

Regarding variable  DDs, Octopus told me they would just credit the £66 or £67 to my account each month. Your guess is as good as mine whether that is correct information, though.

Just checked my Tracker price and it is capped at the EPG rate for my region, so the EPG is definitely the new Tracker cap.

Ours is still below EPG (EPG for the region is on the higher side).

That depends on which version of Tracker you are on.
The daily price is capped by the tariff cap for your version and then discounted by the EPG down towards the floor set by the EPG.
