This week's shopping has come to just over £30 which leaves £185.10/£250. I can't believe how little I've spent this month but glad about it. It probably helps that we'll we going on holiday next week so only buying what we absolutely need and trying not to put too much in the freezer and cupboards!
Whatever is left after buying a few bits next week to take with us will be transferred to the bulk fund to be used to restock cupboards. Shan't top up the freezer immediately as there is still quite a lot in there and I'd like to get it emptied and planning on changing the chest freezer for 2 under counter sized upright freezers but they need to be suitable for outside use.

£6.20 in W8rose this morning, which just bought 3 items; kale (mine's bolted now; ah well, free seeds for the coming season!) spinach & a 1l pot of Greek yogurt, which 3 of us eat regularly. Spinach is absolutely necessary, or I'll get whistled at by two very cross cockatiels, who think a morning treat of a couple of a spinach leaves is the only way to start the day! (Though dandelions are just about acceptable too, but we're running out again.)
Sooo - can I get fruit, veg & cheese at the market tomorrow for under £35? I can do meat & fish from the freezer, and we're still being inundated with eggs from The Girls, but I may need milk too, before the month is actually out. It'll be a very close thing...Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)4 -
Am up to £84.68 out of a possible max of £169.50 for May so far. This brings me to £724.56 out of a max £2k for the year. Still on track! 😀 This has been accidenly helped this week as I'm waiting for covid test results (after a friend tested positive - her sympoms are mild so far thankfully) so I haven't been able to do my planned huge bulk shop! 😆😷🙄 Oh well some of the more random lurking bits in my freezer have been used up! Those quorn sausages are not getting bought again - much prefer the LMcC ones!
Mortgage free as of 12/08/20!

Another £1.99 gone, on milk & mushrooms from the corner shop. This is how the money goes! I was doing a stir-fry for tea, but someone had eaten the mushrooms that should have been the main protein element for the girls - there's a handful of raw cashews in there too, but they are more expensive - so I had to run up there & get some, and thought I might as well pick the milk up too, so I don't have to darken W8rose's doors again this month. But of course, as the milk is there in the fridge now, it'll just get used up faster... I'll try to keep a pound or so back tomorrow, but if anything pushes me over, it'll be a little thing like that. Probably!Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)4

Good morning All
I have a tiny spend to declare: 90p in L!dl on a pack of YS sausages. DH popped in there on his way home, to stock up his personal chocolate supplies, and spotted them. (He hasn’t raided the GC purse to pay for “his” chocolate.)
@thriftwizard - I feel your pain. At one point, I resorted to putting post-its on food, with “Not for Nibbling! This is for Dinner!” written on them.
The above spend brings my total to £88.50/£142.00, leaving £53.50 for the rest of the month. I am really surprised that we’ve got so much left over, at this point in the month. Can’t quite figure it out.
