GSDMum said:Pleased I made it to Friday without venturing to a shop. We did run out of fresh milk though with about 200mls having to be thrown away due to it curdling in a coffee, funnily it didn't smell 'off' though. I've got a backup of cartons containing UHT milk for such times, keeping me from running to the shops and temptation.
Today's market day! £26.30 was spent on fruit and veg; £4.40 of that was on a kilo of cherries - couldn't resist! It's a real treat, and no doubt we'll be munching away on them while watching the telly tonight, another treat was English strawberries, the 1st of the season, they were just over £1 a punnet! Three pounds of new Jersey potatoes made today's trip a bit expensive.... but it'll be all worth it!
In Aldo a further £15.20 was spent on dairy; milk, cheese, butter, and eggs. Was pleasantly surprised to see their filtered milk was only £1.15 for 2 litres, some 50p cheaper than other supermarket brands. I normally buy 2 x 2 litres of 'normal' fresh milk, and 2 litre of filtered, using the filtered last.
I've no plans to visit a shop till 26th May, some 12 days away, despite me forgetting to pickup some onions. I've got one onion left, and that will just have to stretch
We're off cruising on Monday and so I'll not be worrying about shops. Nothing glamorous.... just us taking our narrowboat on a trip to RugbyBoat's now fully provisioned!

We're toying with the idea of now returning to dry land for health reasons, but I'm not too sure if we want to leave our floating home.

I haven't posted for a couple of months as I have been trying a food delivery service, seeing if having everything prepped would help me make healthier choices.
It kind of was worth it to get me out of a cheap pizza rut. I've had proper veg and protein every day, and not thinking about what is for dinner is nice. But I still craved sweet stuff every day. I'm feeling more positive about life, maybe because of food, maybe because the world is about to get slightly less crazy? Anyway - it's been a nice break, but back to normality now!
After that I'm sitting at £1365.71/£2400 for the year. Which leaves around £150 a month for June onwards. Still feels possible.2021 GC £1365.71/ £24007 -

Hugely underestimated how much i would spend last month, plus had to stock up from scratch after moving house. Also, had some bulk orders. Really want to be stricter this time round so fingers crossed
Will try my best to check in; but i either forget or dont have time; and then before i know it, another month has gone by.
Good luck everybody
Not had much opportunty for Ys; but i am salvaging food waste from work and have had a few bits from Olio since moving here. Despite being in a big city previously, nobody was using it nearby.
Also, using Shopm*um, Clicksn*p and Check*utsmart. Made a booboo last week, but had a few good items. Aswell, as money off on the C*-*p app.
Can anybody explain Greenj*nn to me please? Cant figure it out, even though i did use it years ago when there was nothing listed. Is it just pointing you in the direction of good offers?
However, had a £14 odd spend in a little oriental supermarket. Free for me to get there with monthly bus ticket for work, but had to cover DD2s busfare. I would walk, but am suffering with leg pains atm so the bus is the better option.
Ill try and check in again before payday/month end.
Good luck all.GC Jan £101.91/£150 Feb £70.96/150 Mar £100.43/150 Apr £108.45 app/150 May £149.70/150 Jun £155.15/150 July £76.30/£150 (includes food, toiletries and cleaning from 13th to 12th of each month. One person vegan household with occasional visitors)Forever learning the art of frugality3 -
About a year ago I registered for Asda online shopping, though I'd never ordered a delivery. Today I received an email from them with a digital token for £10 off my first order so long as it's over £60. Having just done some research on pricing between Tesco, Sainsbury, Morrisons, and Asda, and discovering Asda resulted in the cheapest supermarket, I didn't need encouragement to create my first order. The order has a 1st June delivery slot, therefore technically I've started planning for my June budget.
June looks to be starting well!6 -
