Aw, thinking of you in your sad loss, @pamsdish. Our pets bring us so much joy & companionship, but it hurts so much when they leave us behind...
Another £25-odd spent this morning, topping up the milk, cheese, coffee & chocolate supplies - now there's a first-world problem! But apparently it's needed for baking, for DD1 to take into work... I could manage the market trip this Friday with £40. which is basically all I have left in the budget, but not the topping-up of dairy etc. that will happen on Thursday too. So I will almost certainly be bust again. Must get a grip!
That said, several items there were duplicates because of good special offers, and I could take meat etc. out of the freezer for next weekend & beyond, so it's not totally impossible. Which would actually be good, as I do need to empty out & turn off the old freezer, to be transformed into a grain store... watch this space! I WILL try...

Afternoon all. I can't believe it's halfway through May already. Weirdly enough, it feels like the last week of May for some reason as well. Since my last update, we've spent £92.14 at various places. £10 here, £35 there.
£373.44 / £400.00 spent which means we have £26.56 for the rest of the month.
I think we may be done with groceries for this week since we're going away again on Thursday evening for the weekend. We're in the process of looking to buy a small house in my husband's hometown, hence the reason we went away a few weeks ago as well. We'll be staying at an AirBnB this time so I'm wondering if I should count any food we buy there as part of the grocery budget or just as "vacation". I may do the latter but try to also take some food from home too as a way to lessen the cost. We can take cereal, oatcakes, rye crispbread, cheese, and apples. I think I might make some mini burgers (from YS ground beef!) to take with me so I have a protein snack during the weekend as well. Also maybe a yellow dhal to eat when we first get into the apartment. Hrm, now my brain is churning with ideas...

@Sallyp2 what a great explanation of the Rainbow Bridge. It made me tear up a bit. Thank you.4 -
Yesterday as I was passing, I popped into Aldi for a quick top up on provisions before we start our narrowboat journey, filtered milk (it really does stay fresh longer), orange juice, onions, sausages, breaded cod fillets, passata, black puddings, strawberries for £12.34.
For dinner tonight I've bulked out the chilli by adding a carrot, and a handful of small red lentils. There's more than enough for tonight's dinner with quite a bit left over for a baked potato topping later in the week. Think I may have overdone the chili peppers though5 -
