Vinted Returns

You hit it on the Nail, they are the worse Platform I have ever come across. Selling I didn't have a problem, but buying was a nightmare when they arrived damaged due to packaging (Thin Brown Paper). I was fobbed off from the Seller and Vinted, had to read through their entire terms and Conditions and spotted in their Terms, that items must be well packed and secure from any damage. I contacted Vinted to point this out, again I got fobbed off and told to work something out with the Seller . That wasn't going to happen as the Seller knew she was at fault, but tried to turn it on me saying it was fine when she sent it. I approached my Bank with all the Messages and Evidence I found, they agreed with me and refunded me in full. This would have cost Vinted upto £400 for a charge back, that would have only cost about £3.20 to the Seller for a return. Unsure if Vinted past a percentage of this cost on to the Seller as most Platforms do. I stopped selling on Vinted after this as this is not safe place for Sellers or Buyers, when they treat you like they do. So if you think you have a case, read through there Terms and Conditions, point out to them where applicable, if they don't agree with you, get in touch with your payment provider with all the evidence, messages and screen shots of their terms and Conditions where they are not enforcing them such as damaged stains or rips. Good luck.0

I’ve decided i can’t lose anymore money!!!
Vinted is the worst buying/selling site I’ve ever used. I’ve bought about 20 items and over half turned up ‘not as described’. I’ve had broken zips, stains, rips and 3 items a totally different size. Every time you return something (which is a frequent occurrence on Vinted) you lose money. YOU HAVE TO PAY MONEY BECAUSE YOU RECEIVE A DAMAGED/FAULTY ITEM!!It’s outrageous that Vinted can get away with it!!
the last item had a completely broken zip and when I notified the seller I was told “get the zip fixed, it’s a bargain”.
Vinted will not protect you as a buyer!!0 -
I know where you are coming from, I ve bought and sold on Vinted with both bad experiences. Its like a lucky bag on who they agree with buyers or Sellers. They have no care when you receive damaged items from experience myself. They even sided with me when I sent an item out that got damaged in transit and told the buyer in other words that they were lying. I was shocked and sent the buyer a returns label at my cost and claimed the cost of the item and the postage from Royal Mail. They forced me to use other couriers that they had on their site (they get a commission from them) and stopped me using Royal Mail. I use to sell and buy loads on their website and made them a lot of money, but even iam just another number that can be binned if they think you are being too cleaver for them. I have challenged them on a few occasions and won, read through their terms and conditions, how the item must be packed and on receiving damaged items. If they still don't want to help you when you point out these conditions in their terms, speak to your Bank if you used your card or contact PayPal if you paid with them. Point out the terns and conditions what they are not biding by and ask for a charge back. If they agree with you, you will get your money back and Vinted will be charged £400 fine on top everytime you do it. Make sure you have photo evidence, screen shots of all messages with the Seller and Vinted and the screen shots of the terms they are not standing by. I did it twice and won, that's probably why Vinted closed my account. I wasn't bothered about the account as I was going to close it anyway, but I did smile when they had to pay the charge back fee of £400. Some sites pass on a percentage of the charge back to the Seller as well. If your stuck with anything, post a message by me and I'll try and help as much as I can. Tony0

I buy and sell on eBay, only buy on Vinted (so far).
I find the prices for similar items are generally cheaper on Vinted.
I've only had one item bought from Vinted that was SNAD.
All the other stuff I've bought - clothes/footwear - have been as described or even better.
Maybe I'm just lucky.
I do take notice of the condition but you can't always rely on that.
A seller shouldn't list something as 'new' when the description says 'only worn once.
'Worn' is not 'new'.0 -
You have been very lucky upto now, but believe me the time will come when you will see how they handle you. All the people that have posted here, have all experience something bad from Vinted. Vinted is a place to sell brocken, stained or some sort of damaged item and get away with it or have to return it at your cost as it is not truly discribed in the discription. Then to be told you have damaged it or they didn't receive it, Vinted have no control over the site and frankly saying they don't care. Their so called protection fees is their cut and not a protection fee at all. It will happen to you somewhere down the line and you will be shocked, just like the others on here. Good luck on your purchases on Vinted. Tony0

Bought and sold on vinted. I've never sold any that isn't in great condition but I've twice received stuff that was poor and the sellers couldn't have cared less when I mentioned it.
There is no point as a buyer trying to return as you have to pay and even then you may not get a refund. I would only buy on vinted if you can afford not to be refunded on whatever you buy.0 -

I bought a pair of Alexandre Birman boots for £10.00.
Described as 'very good', they didn't look worn.
Boots start at £700 on his website.Tiggeroo1 said:Then to be told you have damaged it or they didn't receive it, Vinted have no control over the site and frankly saying they don't care. Maybe I'll argue the point that the item was not as described and the seller will have to refund postage too.
From another thread.
In the incident referred to in my earlier post, the seller did agree to refund the return postage.soolin said:Vinted claim they do not allow business sellers and do not therefore have to allow returns at the sellers cost. However, it is always worth contacting Vinted with proof as there have been some instances where sellers have offered a refund once Vinted warn them about misleading ads.
I pointed out that they'd used a stock photo (thanks, Soolin) which is not allowed.Rosiebear16 said:

Vinted are up-front about how items should be described.
If I bought an item described as 'very good' (for example):Very good: Used a few times, but still looks great. It might have a few slight imperfections, which are clearly shown and mentioned in your listing.and it had a broken zip which was not mentioned in the description, I would argue for the seller to pay for return postage.
I do think it sometimes depends on how you complain i.e the tone of your communication and the points you make, based on Vinted's own rules.
Complaints should be brief, to the point, factually accurate and unemotional.

Yes you can get great items on Vinted from great Sellers, but it's the ones that sell brocken or stained items that get away with it. As for the return postage, I have argued with the Seller and Vinted that the Seller is responsible for the return postage, but fell on deaf ears and still had to pay return postage. If they got their act together and banned those Sellers and introduced that Sellers must pay for return postage if the item is damaged or stain not as discribed, then they would be at the top of the Selling platform. They lack in Customer care and don't follow the guide lines as the law states that you are not liable for the return postage for items that have arrived damaged or not as discribed only if the buyer has changed their mind about the item is the Buyers responsible for the cost to return the item. I sold on Vinted for a Year, making them a lot of money, only once did an item from myself arrive damaged. The Seller complained (Which I agree with) Vinted sided with me and in other words told the buyer he was lying and he would have to pay for the Return Postage (That would make my blood boil hearing that as a buyer). I messaged the buyer and sent a returns label, as I disagreed with what Vinted had said. If I had been a bad Seller, then I would have got away with it. They have been investigated in Europe and fined a large amount , can't remember the amount, I think it was about 19 Million Euros, won't be long before it happens here. They even state in their policies that an item must be well packaged ie bubble wrapped or and boxed. Twice I received items wrapped in brown paper with no protection,, one package was totally damaged, yet Vinted informed me I would have to pay for the return postage, even though I pointed this out in their terms and Conditions. I Did a Charge Back as the Seller and Vinted didn't want to help, my Bank agreed with me and refunded me in full. It took me 3 months to get this and in this 3 months Vinted sided with the Seller, this is their biggest downfall.
I have spoken to many Vinted Sellers over time, they have had problems getting paid from Vinted, being blocked and couldn't access the payments they had in their accounts, luckily I didn't have this problem, but the list goes on and on with Problems with Vinted.0 -

We clearly have had very different experiences with buying from Vinted.
You won't convince me not to buy on Vinted by posting your experiences.
Of course, your experience may convince someone else not to buy.
All my parcels have been well packaged. Some items of footwear have even been sent in boxes when the listing didn't say they would be.
I really do think that if an item is clearly and provable to be SNAD, the sender should pay for return.
But Vinted don't seem to agree.
I'll carry on browsing on Vinted, checking descriptions, photos and seller feedback carefully - as I always have done on both Vinted and eBay.

I am not trying to convince you, I am just letting you know that these things happen, and when it happens to you, you will have a different approach to them. There is some good honest Sellers on the platform, but it's the bad ones and Vinted approach to help you that puts them down. All I am saying is be careful and ask questions before you buy, so you don't regret it in the end. Ask any of the Buyers who have had bad experiences on Vinted, what they think of them, believe me it will be worse than what i have stated. Its such a shame they never got their act together and changed their policies on returns of damaged or not discribed items, as like I said if they had, they would be the biggest on the Internet or one of the Biggest, but buyers want protection and not to have to pay for to return item(s) at the Buyers cost when things aren't right. I hope you continue to receive great items, but I know somewhere down the line, you will receive damaged or not discribed items and are forced to return them at your cost. That's when you will change your mind about them. Good luck!0
