There is some good honest Sellers on the platform, but it's the bad ones and Vinted approach to help you that puts them down. All I am saying is be careful and ask questions before you buy, so you don't regret it in the end. Ask any of the Buyers who have had bad experiences on Vinted, what they think of them, believe me it will be worse than what i have stated. Its such a shame they never got their act together and changed their policies on returns of damaged or not discribed items, as like I said if they had, they would be the biggest on the Internet or one of the Biggest, but buyers want protection and not to have to pay for to return item(s) at the Buyers cost when things aren't right. I hope you continue to receive great items, but I know somewhere down the line, you will receive damaged or not discribed items and are forced to return them at your cost. That's when you will change your mind about them. Good luck!
I am always careful when buying from Vinted and eBay.
I study photos, enlarge them, read descriptions and ask if I'm not sure.
You really don't know that somewhere down the line that I will receive damaged or SNAD items.
Just because you and others have experienced it does not mean I will.
Let's leave it there.

I have just had a Ralph Lauren jacket arrive and it is fake as! The writing is all wonky. Really strange. Have opened a dispute but I am shocked that I have been sent counterfeit and have to pay to send it back!
that said I have bought about 75 things and this is my first issue0 -

Not really sure if some of these pro comments are from Vinted employees?
I study all photos in detail, I ask questions, I have been buying online for 25 years.
Still on Vinted sellers are cowboys - photos do not show damage, do not show stains, do not show holes. Questions are answered as lies. Descriptions are always 'Excellent condition' - it's a roll of the dice!
As a seller you can list a load of rubbish broken items using photos of a brand new items and just sell it repeatedly until someone doesn't pay their own money to return it back! - as the seller I am not paying postage or return postage, I am not paying any fees whatsoever, there is no risk as a seller.
Vinted is a good place to get items cheaper than Ebay - but customer service is zero.
Vinted take a 'buyer protection policy fee' - I have no idea what this covers!! As a buyer you are left to sort out any and all issues with the seller directly.
I buy a lot of items every month, 80% of my items come in black plastic thin bin liners / thin shopping branded plastic, even take away packaging. This month two bin bags arrived open with my clothing items hanging out. I have had this previously as well.
It's a running joke on what the items will be packaged in!
Most of the time my items are as expected.
However when they are not - its bad.
You can hold the funds upon inspection so they are not released - however you now have to work with seller on what can be done next (after they sent you clearly damaged /faulty item.)
Example:
-The wires are exposed and there is electricity arcing on my appliance I purchased in 'Excellent condition' with photos showing in excellent condition. Returned at my expense £4.25 to seller. Seller denied getting the tracked, signed for, with photo return with his hands, house number and property in the photo and signature. Even with all this evidence Vinted held my funds for over a month and said I had to speak with seller as he denied getting it. Vinted closed my request, I had to start a charge back process with my card provider. After calling and messaging Vinted continuously - finally Vinted refunded me and also the seller in full ( 35 days later) . Minus my return postage cost. Very lucky.

Your example suggests an electrical item, but Vinted only allow electrical things to be sold brand new so if someone sold you a brand new item that was faulty- that would have been worth flagging to Vinted on top of flagging about the dangerous state it was in.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I believe Vinted rules say you should only post photos of your item, not stock photos.
Although an eBay buyer for 20 odd years, I've not been buying from Vinted much more than a couple of years.
I don't buy a lot of items but I am careful with what I buy.
Unless there's a decent number of photos, I don't bother.
Most of my items have been better than described and packaged well.
Maybe I'm more discerning than you...0 -
Further to the above...
I've just taken delivery of 2 items, 1 described as 'new with tags', the other 'worn once'.
Both items are great.
I paid £6.14 total for the new item, retails at £28.00.
I paid £39.94 for the worn once, retails at £169.00.
There are real bargains to be had on Vinted.
I'm sure the happy buyers far outweigh the dissatisfied ones.

I have bought on Vinted and most of the items are good that come and packaged to a good standard. On occasion I have had some real attention paid to the packaging and presentation of the items that are sent and this is always nice to receive.
There were no issues whatsoever until last week, whereby i received a carrier bag stuffed with the clothes in a poor condition, one item had someone's dinner stains on it, another a faulty collar and a third item, moth holes.
Vinted refunded but i wasn't aware that i had to pay return postage, along with a lot of people on this forum, surely there is something in law for this that could be challenged with them?0 -

I've just been wrestling with this issue myself. I'm a new Vinted user and figured the site works like gumtree or eBay and that as usual I would be protected by UK law.Instead, the seller tried to cheat me. They listed a pair of jeans as "new with tags" but the jeans had been bleached after production in one area. They were damaged. There was no mention of this in the description and the photos appeared desaturated (only the ones that showed the area that was bleached were desaturated - not the other photos) to cover up the warmness of the bleach colour. The seller initially refused to refund, offering me a discount instead, then point blank refused to pay for postage. But as they made more mistakes, and the contradictions in their statements became apparent, I managed to persuade them, as I was more trouble than was worth the time and lying never looks good to a third party.(The lies: They said the bleaching was obvious in the photo in the listing. Despite being listed as new with tags. When I pointed this out, they insisted there was no bleaching. Then when I pointed to my photo, they said the bleaching was part of the design itself.)It strikes me that during every step of the way, Vinted has designed their system to protect the seller and allow for scammers to operate. For example, you cannot view the seller's address on the postage label for returns. They can only be printed by the courier company at one of their sites. This provides a barrier between the buyer and seller and prevents any easy legal recourse by using the seller's registered address. Also, Vinted removes your ability to leave a review if you return an item. I've had a seller obviously try and scam me, but I have no way of warning other buys of this seller's antics. I have enough evidence from the conversation to backup my claims of attempted scam, but there's no recourse as far as I can see.Furthermore, Vinted's messaging system allows for messages to be permanently deleted for both sides at any time. Which is not how eBay and other similar sites work iirc. Conversations should be able to be viewed unaltered, especially by both Vinted staff and auditors, this is particularly shameful and underhand. If you're having problems with Vinted and reading this, to counteract this problem, make sure you screenshot everything as it comes up!Sites like this should be shut down by the trading standards. Do they have that power these days?
