NOW OPEN: the MSE Forum 'Ask An Expert' event. This time we'd like your questions on TRAVEL & HOLIDAY DEALS. Post by Wed and deals expert MSE Oli will answer as many as he can.
@Butts When TUI build a Sensatori or TUI Blue Hotel and offer 7 night beach holidays in Belfast then I will.
Beach is in short supply, but if you wanted a good hotel in Belfast, I'd always recommend The Merchant, if only for the tasteful Art Deco nudie pictures on the bedroom walls
Butts - I hope your plan regarding reuse of vouchers for an existing booking works, but that's one area where BA can be a bit picky - I think the rules now specifically state that vouchers are for new bookings only, but you may get lucky when you call...
No need to call you can do it all online.
Just make sure you have cancelled one trip before you book the new one.
They send you an e-mail with the cancelled booking reference and you just reply to it quoting the new booking reference and hey presto the amount magically disappears off the balance of your new booking.
Interesting, so just to be clear, you got the voucher for a cancelled holiday, and then responded with the PNR of another holiday you'd already booked to apply the value of the voucher to?
if that worked, it's against the rebooking T&Cs, but we know how inconsistently these things work with BA... may have to try that myself next time...
You have to cancel one and replace it with a new one.
As long as you don't do it the other way around you are ok - ie book a new one then cancel an old one and try and use the voucher towards the new one.
Hope that makes sense.
Ok yes so as I thought. You can't just cancel a holiday and use that voucher to further pay off part of another holiday you'd already got booked...
I’ve done this at least 5 times this year! I cancel a booking and ask them to apply the voucher to one I’ve got booked! Has always worked for me.
Yes, it get's complicated remembering which vouchers which when you have a load of bookings on the go at once.
Well a quick update I have already had to make three changes before the first journey this month.....bloody Governments !!!
May 21st -May 24th has now switched from Belfast to Newcastle due to NI Govt not opening Hotels till May 24th.
June 1st-4th now going to Belfast rather than Dublin - Hotels in Dublin not opening till June 2nd at earliest.
July 3rd to 6th now going to Dublin - previously Italy (Bologna) too dodgy with testing et al Ireland should be clear by then and no existing testing requirement to return to the UK.
The British Isles Trips are often dearer than the foreign ones which is extremely annoying.
Should be up to Silver by end July and will then start culling most of the remaining trips to Cattle Class as I qualify for Lounge Access and Free Seat Selection.
Will probably leave the "240's" intact in order to hopefully reach Gold by the end of the Year.
Quick update my Newcastle Trip was completed and I have just arrived in Belfast for the second leg of my odyssey. Will be Bronze by the end of the week. July 3rd to 6th changed to Jersey and a trip to Dublin later that month will take me to Silver by the end of July hopefully. Great trip today from EDI - BHD via LCY on BA Embraers - Glenlivet on free-flow
It's been a nightmare chopping and changing but hopefully yes.
Going to Belfast again on Saturday which will take me within touching distance of Silver.
Due in Dublin later in July which will take me to Silver but getting a bit worried about this one and may have to adjust. Jersey my other "banker" have started categorising England and Scotland as "Red" - Wales still "Green"
Was supposed to be going there not Belfast this week. Am double vaccinated but can't put up with the hassle of any restrictions/testing.
Looks like I may be in Belfast quite a bit until things settle down.
First "proper" Foreign Trip is Germany in August (I think !!)
Well done! I always think Silver is the important one (my user name helps!) mainly because of the lounge access. Then again the lure of the even nicer lounges and the first wing at LHR make gold very attractive.

As things stand at the moment they often shut The Galleries Lounge and turf everyone into the 1st Class one later in the Evenings.
Lounge Access and Free Seat Choice from point of booking are the highlights.
I was rather disappointed you don't get a physical card anymore - it's all virtual. Gold can still request one.

Not bothered about the membership card but I always liked getting a new set of luggage tags each year. Fortunately I still have few Silver tags from previous years when I qualified despite being stuck at Bronze for the last few years.
Did my first BA flights a couple of weeks ago with a quick trip to Edinburgh to collect 80 Tier Points. Just need a plan on how to get back to Silver by next summer.

You missed The Lounge at EDI being open then ?
Point runs from Edinburgh are easier as you are going via LHR and stacking up 160 on a trip to Belfast/Dublin/Jersey with no dreaded tests or quarantines.

However this was tempered somewhat by being able to book front row WTP Seats on a booked Florida Trip (3rd attempt) next June with my son.
What would have cost £292 yesterday was zilch today
