Sorry for being a bit thick (or a lot thick), how does one switch to managed payments?  Does one have to be invited or can we just ask to switch?

I did try and read up on it but it was tonnes of information which just made me fall asleep.
You’ll be invited to join, you can’t opt in . It looks like they are doing a big batch at the moment so you might not have to wait too long.
is that the e-mail from ebay asking you to update some details...

you then put your name, DOB and bank details

is that it, or is there something else in the process of changing to managed payments?
We've just been told that we have to wait for micro payments to go into our account before we are fully updated.
Hope it doesn't take too long.
I'm fed up with the whole thing atm. This new payment process and this stupid new layout.

On completion of an eBay sale last Sunday in the evening the money was processed  3 days later and sent to my bank account I found the experience very smooth.

So does that mean that the buyer's payments aren't paid or available to the seller immediately? Until now if somebody bought something from me with paypal the money was available immediately unless they'd paid by an e-cheque then it stated how long it would take to clear. Paypal always stated when money had cleared and was ok to send to buyer so how does it work with managed payments?
Are we expected to send items immediately or as we usually would without money in hand?
    I'm very confused!

I Generally think there is a 3 day or so processing of your funds before sending straight to your bank account bear in mind that I always put on my eBay listings dispatch within 3 working days so that will allow time for the funds to reach my bank account and the funds have shown up in the account within a few hours.  There is an option of having your payouts sent daily or weekly.

Your expected to send within the dispatch time you stated on the listing so for example if you said you dispatch within 3 working days you must send your item within that timescale if I make sense?

I believe we pay for the postage in arrears then get it back once eBay has issued the payout of funds.

Just received a message regarding changing my currency to GBP for when eBay will manage payments.

I'm still not on Managed Payments tho' so I am wondering if this means that soon they will move me over?!

EDIT: I just realized I posted this in the wrong thread. Got carried away with the current discussion. Maybe someone can move it to Managed Payments thread.

I'm set up for daily payments, auctions ended on a Monday, buyers paid same day, money in bank mid morning Wednesday.

Happened to the same time frame next time I listed as well.

Personally I post asap once buyer has paid while eBay are still processing.

I too have despatch time set to 3 working days to cover myself in case delivery is slow.

As it is now Thursday I suspect we are too late for any offers this coming weekend as I think we usually see some mention somewhere of one. It's a shame as bank holidays were usually a time when private sellers were almost certain to get offers.
