Hi folks I've got another solicitor letter, this time done up to look scarily similar to a county court summons. They say if I don't settle up within n days then they will start legal action and this time they really really mean it. They say if it goes to court then I'll end up paying a total of £235
I made a mistake and paid for the wrong car park within the NCP empire, I SUPPOSE I owe them some kind of "penalty" but NOT the exorbitant costs they added on top.
So my question is, how much should I offer as a settlement, an amount that a judge might consider reasonable???
Advice GRATEFULLY RECEIVED thanks folks

These cases never receive a summons , it's not a criminal matter , it's a civil matter
Any court claim comes from the CCBC in Northampton , until then there is nothing to worry about , the claimant follows government rules and sends a court claim pack from the CCBC in Northampton , so that would be an official notice of claim ( not a summons , you will not get a summons )
The n days is important , was it 7 or14 or 30. ?? Only 30 is noteworthy , not 7 or 14
Post a redacted picture of the latest drivel , so we can see what you are seeing3 -
Yes I kind of knew about the CCBC thing, I've used it myself a couple of times when people haven't paid me
I'm scanning now BRB1 -
redacted copy of letter, seems to indicate 30 days0

another few pages that looked court-like, with boxes to tick

So you have received a Letter of Claim.
The first few paragraphs of the second post on the NEWBIES thread explain exactly how you should deal with that.3 -
If you already have the SAR reply from months ago , just email the 30 days hold , as above , post 2 of the newbies FAQ sticky thread near the top of the forum in announcements
Then start preparing for the court claim pack from the CCBC in Northampton to arrive next month2
