Oh WW I'm so sorry to read your sad news. My dog is 13 next month and I'm very aware she won't be here forever, I know I'll be heartbroken when the time comes so completely understand how you must be feeling. You gave WW dog an amazing life and she'll always occupy a special place in your heart.
I'm glad you've found something to keep your mind occupied, sounds like a great project.

Thanks everyone for your kind messages.
yesterday was another milestone as I cleared out all the dog treats from the cupboards. There were a lot, must have been well over a hundred pounds of stuff as she was quite fussy and I always bought in bulk when I found something she loved. Then as she slowed down over Christmas they didn’t get eaten up. Lots of dried chicken fillets, etc. I filled 2 carrier bags and one went to a lady and dog we used to bump into when on our big walks back in the day. She just lives across the street so I steeled myself and dropped them off without crying. The second bag has gone to a lady at MrWW’s work who has just got new puppies. I did cry this morning though when I saw the empty puppy shelves. It’s all part of the process I guess.I bought a dress yesterday from J0ules which was down from about £80 to £26. It will be a bargain if I don’t look like a sack of potatoes in it 😁this is my first underconsumption fail of the year…although I have been eyeing up jumpers on the Ge0rge site. I have a nice clothing pot to cover anything I buy.I started a Christmas pot and a Christmas hamper pot this year. I am always eyeing up the posh £500 hampers, so have planned in to save for one this time. If it’s rubbish at least I’ll know. I’m quite invested in getting one so have £160 in that pot already. Clearly calorific Christmas food is a big motivation for me.
I still can’t quite believe how ynab has improved my finances. It’s a shock when I log into my bank and see a decent balance after the dd’s have gone out…and yet everything is minutely planned in categories on the ynab tracker. It’s so odd how the first time I tried it, I didn’t rate it at all. I guess I wasn’t in the right headspace for it. I’m looking forward to seeing what things look like over time as I am still in the early stages…and desperately hoping for no unforeseen events to come and bite me!I hope you are all having a good day.Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

Would you not consider getting another dog? I know it’s setting yourself up for yet more future heartbreak but I couldn’t be without one, same with cats. A friend recently lost her dog and had the sad task of getting rid of surplus food, treats, etc.
I’m glad you’re allowing yourself some treat pots.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)3 -

An elderly neighbour I speak to lost his dog a couple of years ago then got a puppy a few weeks later. He was 92 at the time. He still walks the new dog daily and he must be around 94 now. However he did say his ‘kids’ would have the dog if anything happened to him. Had to laugh at his reference to ‘kids’ as they’re probably in their 70s 😆
