Not childish at all to work all week and cook for someone all week and expect to have some quality time at the weekend. Forgive me if I'm speaking out of turn, but you do often sound in your posts like you're horribly bored and frustrated, and that spending is often linked to that. Could it be at all on the cards that you might move somewhere with a bit more life in a few years? Or that you could save up for some occasional weekends away either as a couple or by yourself when WW doggo is no longer with you (which will hopefully be a long way away)...
Not out of turn at all pip. I do get very bored and frustrated. I think even if MrWW wasn’t on shifts he’d still be less inclined to do anything on days off. I have to be quite forceful about it and then I end up feeling guilty instead. When ww dog leaves us (hopefully no time soon, but I recognise her amazing and impressive ancient status, even though MrWW refuses to) there are certainly more day trips we could do without worrying about the cats. We are off at the end of this month (MrWW for an impressive amount of time because of shift patterns, and me for one small week (sigh)) and I have started to sow the seeds of cinema visits, meals out, etc. Cinema would have to be something he fancies…i would prefer something I fancy too, but at this stage I’d go to the opening of a paper bag! I was happy for a quiet ish life, but over the years I have come to realise he is a bit more reclusive than I thought…and I’m a bit less! On the other hand I do get quite anxious about going to new places or meeting new people, so in very low populated area in a county (and country) I didn’t grow up in, it’s been almost impossible to find a new gang.
On the plus side I am up to 12k steps already and finally painted my bust gold 🤣🤣 no, not that one! It’s a pot ladies head and shoulders, that unfortunately went a bit mottled over the years and I’ve been meaning to paint her gold for ages. If she doesn’t fit in with my moody Victorian gothic style office when she’s dried I will get some black spray paint and try again…so it’s not all bad.

  • Good you've got a week off coming up. If he doesn't want to do things, just go and do them by yourself! His options are accompany you or grumble about you going without him, not you not going! Well, if you're ever down in London for the day or weekend I'll go for a pint with you.
12k steps is excellent, and I did fully think the other bust 😂 And I think it tells you a lot that I wasn't that surprised 😂
Sounds like she'll fit in gloriously in your office, do report back

If Mr WW is a homebody then let him look after doggo and head off out every now and again.  It's always hard when you are anxious about going places alone, but the more you do it, the easier it will get.  Going to the cinema on your own is a good way of practicing this.

Well done on getting the steps in.  Is there a local ramblers group or anything like that?

I fear I may be the only local rambler 😅

I suppose the problem is that Mr WW is out at work all week so doesn't feel like going out at the weekend and you're the opposite WFH all week so want to go out. It's trying to find a happy medium. Good idea to get out on your own even if it's just for a walk. As much as I enjoy the days I WFH it would drive me potty if I didn't get out to the office at least twice a week just for a change of scenery so totally understand you wanting to go out.

Good morning and happy Monday ☀️ Here’s to a better week.
Yesterday I ended on 13,972 steps, so I’m happy with that. Today is my first day of my August spending reset, I know it’s early, but I have to start somewhere 😅 I will relax the spending for holiday week, but to be fair, most of my bad spending happens on the internet! I have £150 left until payday across all of my pots and accounts, but excluding my car fund/pb’s, which is utterly pathetic compared to last month, although I know I have pre bought £550 worth of pet food sachets and tins, Dreamies, Felix snacks, etc. Which should last until Christmas and will reduce my outgoing spending each month by hundreds of pounds (until it runs out). Every time I seem to get to a good place the self sabotage clicks in!
My office plants are under attack already this morning. I have been squirting the small cat with water in the hope he’ll get tired, but he’s planning a military campaign and keeps popping up from unexpected places…I’m sure I saw him putting extra camouflage stripes on his face and strapping on his helmet a few minutes ago. The spray works briefly, but it left splash marks on my dark paint 🙄 and I can’t get them off, so I’m hoping now, just the shaking of the bottle and pretend squirt sounds from me will be enough 😬
I hope you all have a fabulous Monday ⭐️

Good luck with cutting the spending but don’t be too hard on yourself.
I can get why you’re frustrated when Dh doesn’t want to go out and about on his days off. It seems a great idea to be in an isolated country setting but I imagine it can get lonely especially when you’re working at home.
Hope you’re enjoying the sunshine 🌞

Happy Saturday to all and happy week off to me 😁
Well I feel like I should skulk in with my (imaginary!) tail between my legs as I have not been handling the spending reset well 😬 Where is my will power? I am now the proud owner of two bargain tops, a small sale bag and scarf and a purdy and figg cleaning subscription! All in transit, so I can’t update on what they are actually like. Also a box of winter dog treat supplies, as I couldn’t get those in the pet prime monster restock. The p&f is something I’ve looked at for ages, but I started making my own instead. Somehow I just can’t get a decent smell with the homemade version and these have such good reviews on the scent hanging around. If they are rubbish I will cancel the quarterly subscription. Of course to make a house full of pets smell nice when the lone cleaner detests cleaning is a challenge in itself…and I’m fully aware the shortcomings may be mine alone and not the products 😅
Payday is on Wednesday so that’s something to look forward to 😬 although it won’t be a good saving month again as the best quote for my car insurance has gone from 300 last year to 460 this year! I know they have all gone up, but for no earthly reason. I go with a group one that shops for the best price among a lot of insurers, so I don’t feel the need to shop around more, I’ll just have to suck it up. Then the washer dryer is behaving oddly and has been awkward for a while, so we plan to replace it before it dies. It has had a few repairs so I think it’s time…sigh!
I have managed to drop another pound though…I need to try to cling to it while having a week off with nice lunches out now.
I hope you all have a very good Saturday ☀️

  • Have a lovely week off enjoying your new purchases. Mr PIPs car insurance has gone down (though that may be postcode change) but have a quick look at Hastings in case they're being generally decent
