Honestly rice has the same effect on me. It doesn't matter if it's plain boiled, egg fried, made at home with saintly junk free made from scratch mains or bought with accompanying junk food from the chipper. Every time I eat rice I am a pound or two heavier the next day. A reminder no doubt that my Irish/Scottish heritage has primed me to survive on oats and spuds. I don't like potatoes so maybe I need to learn how to make oatcakes? Actually, that's not a bad idea....

I'm ok with rice, but bread does that for me.  I hope it comes off soon.

Well done on the decluttering, you've made great progress!

Rice & bread do that to me.

You don’t like potatoes @CRANKY40? 🤯 Not chips, or roast, or baked? Not mash with lashings of butter? I love bread too, but try to avoid it for the same reason as rice. I have to weigh out paltry amounts of potatoes in any form 😢 I managed to stay just under the calories today…until I had 3 rich tea 😖 I almost made it.
I think it would probably be easier to buy oatcakes rather than make them?

I don't much like potatoes either - I do like roast and mash, but I don't like chips, baked or new potatoes.  I'll eat them if they come with a meal out, but not at home.

  • I’m not keen on potatoes either. I’ll eat jackets if they have a lot of filling (so you can’t taste the potato!) occasionally chips but I do like crisps lol.  Mash, boiled or new potatoes never touch my plate and roast potatoes have to be really crispy for my to have any and then I’ll only have one. I’d rather have rice or pasta.

Love potatoes in any shape or form here 😁 We never had rice or pasta when I was little- potatoes all the way. I only started to cook rice and pasta when I got married. The first Chinese meal I’d ever had was on a date with Dh and I was very adventurous having chicken and mushrooms with chips 😂😂😂😂I had a spoonful of his fried rice and crispy noodles. 😂😂😂😂

Same! My first Indian experience was risking chicken and chips from the tiny English section 🤭 I was probably about 18 and had no experience of ‘foreign’ food at all!
