Now I need to follow my own advice 😂
Thanks Debs. SA told me about get fit with Rick too and I did do one 😅 Yes, just one. It’s the time that’s hard to find as I’m sitting for work and then it’s pretty much cooking, house jobs and bed. Not ideal…and I know I need to make the time. I will have a look at yours too, thank you. I think as I’ve mastered the calories I could now step it up and add exercise.

Rather than focussing on steps or formal exercise, why not try building little bits into your day.  Push ups (standing) or squats while brushing your teeth or waiting for the kettle to boil.  Stepping or walking during ad breaks.  Upping the ante when doing housework.   Even fidgeting will burn some calories.  It won't get you fit, but it all helps!  I have some hand weights by my work laptop.  I look at them more than I use them 🙄, but they are right there when I get the urge.  I'm that lazy, I even do my knee exercises in bed (good job DH doesn't go up at the same time as me :D )

Happy Friday and happy payday 😁woohoo. I have done the money shuffle, paid back the shaver money and put some extra away. I am now officially poor after all the expected dd’s, payments and purchases happen 😬 I have left myself with £150 for April, this is after everything including budgeted presents, so I really should be able to manage. If something occurs I can take some back, but I’d rather not.
I went up 0.3 this morning..what the fur! I hope it is just the weight of the very small pasta I had for tea. Everything is weighed and measured for calories, so I’m not sure why I’m getting this very slow yo-yo weigh in happening. I know food is supposed to be the biggest reason for weight gain and loss, but I also know I don’t move enough. I just feel like 1200-1300 a day should see a consistent loss. I’m definitely not cheating myself as every morsel is weighed, measured and counted. I have been watching Secret Eaters on YT and I’m definitely not hiding anything 😅 Anyhow, that’s my moan for today…I shall aim to get more steps today and I have my wrist weights strapped on at my desk (thanks @jwil 🤭).
I hope you all have a fabulous Friday 🌟

My body doesn't comply appropriately with calorie reduction either. My sister says we're good peasant stock (Scottish ancestry from the mining hills near Glasgow) so we'd be valued during a famine. You'd think all these years later our genes would have cottoned on to supermarkets wouldn't you? We just have to keep on keeping on with it 😊

@Slumbershade 🤣 I’ve been using nutracheck since Christmas and it’s no longer a chore, just a habit. They give me 1400 a day, but they expect you to earn back 200 with exercise. As I’m falling short on that I’m having a bit less. Oddly the most pathetic of tea plates can still be fine once I’ve eaten it (the tea, not the plate 🤭), but visually the amounts are hugely disappointing. I think I forgot what normal portions looked like. Yes @CRANKY40 I’m clearly also a peasant 😅 Maybe tilling the fields, existing on turnips or taking in washing is the way forward? 😬

@WinterWarrior - Re weight fluctuation, here's a little experiment for you. Find a measuring jug, fill it with water & pour it slowly into the weighing dish of your kitchen scales. Stop when you've weighed out 1lb exactly of water. Now have a good look at it. It's not much is it? I first noticed this when I started baking sourdough bread. In the recipe I use, the water content is weighed - 250g. I remember looking at it on the scales & thinking 'That's not much - just double that amount would weigh more than 1lb".
And you can imagine that as a life-ling yo-yo dieter, my thoughts went to those frustrating mornings where we know we've had a good week, yet we are somehow up a lb. And unless we are kidding ourselves & have secretly been stuffing cheese & crackers or other tasty morsels, I think this very simple experiment shows that it's highly likely to be fluctuations in fluid intake. Carbohydrates & sugars require a certain amount of water for the body to process them.
Try it.....just weigh out 1lb of water & see how little it actually is.

Interesting about the water Foxgloves. I’m going to give that a go. Maybe it’s all the liquid refreshment I had yesterday that gave me 1 lb loss this morning 😏 Whish is exactly what I thought 😳

What a great point @foxgloves. We are all taught to think about bags of sugar or pats of butter to feel how much weight a lost pound feels like, but not how little water fluctuations can have such a big negative effect. Today I managed to earn back the required 200 cals and then some, just by marching hard around the garden on my break and after work. Hopefully it will help.
I have been enjoying more episodes of Secret Eaters, so much denial 😅
