Good morning and happy Monday. Work today and not much else planned.
I did a financial reshuffle for the car work on Friday and (as long as it stays under £600, which I’m hopeful for) I should still end the month flat again. So no savings, but no taking out either. This is amazingly good news as I have spent quite a bit on Christmas presents as well as last weeks car repair. This will make 2 months of practically no savings, but considering the dishwasher, new coats and other bits, I’m fairly pleased with that. Next year, all being well, I will make a real effort to add to them, although it will take maybe 3 years to get to my targets. There’s a lot that needs doing in the house, but I can live with it, so it’s not a priority.

Well done on the reshuffle. At least you haven’t had to dib into the savings you can build them up slowly again. 👍

I really think you shouldn't underestimate how big a deal it is to pay for car repairs etc without dipping into savings. That shows such financial resilience and getting to that point takes effort and dedication. Well done you.

Elly Griffiths writes a series of crime and archaelogy novels set on the Norfolk coast. There are about 20 in the series which i have read in a random order! My Dad started reading one when he was here in summer and is sensibly reading them in the correct order

Happy Tuesday everyone. I’m just watching bake off and catching up.

We managed to get a MrT Christmas slot, but the turkey we usually get wasn’t an option! They had no free range crowns that you didn’t have to flog a kidney to be able to afford! We’ve ordered a non free range, which is disappointing (for us and the poor turkey 😞). What on earth is going on with supply and prices? Everything seems to be shooting up at an astronomical rate. I saw a funny glass tree ornament on a different site, would have made a great extra present, but was £20! £20 for a single ornament, the worlds gone mad!

I think bird flu is most of the problem.  I believe that very soon they will no longer be able to call any eggs free range because of it.  I THINK the only free range turkeys are frozen because the farmers froze them before bird flu completely shut them down.

That’s interesting @badmemory. It’s a big difference between a roomy barn and the ones that are packed in so tight their legs can’t hold them up, so I hope they find a different labelling system to give us a better idea. 

I just read that Russia have accidentally bombed Poland. I wonder if nato can step in now?

They probably won't if they can prove it was accidental, but I thought they could explode them if they overshot.  No doubt we will find out eventually.  It could be deliberate if Russia wants to involve NATO so they can play the poor little us card.

They seem to be in denial and reporting it as propaganda! Russian news seems like jackanory 😖
