I think recycling is really important for those that are able to do it. For example my DH's mum was well into her 80s with the start of dementia when the council introduced all the various bins for different things so we contacted them and got her a black bin which meant everything could go in it rather than getting fined for putting things in the wrong bin! I don't the fining people ever actually happened but as she has since died and we don't know anyone in that council area any more we don't really know!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Next doors, however, is pristine….I bet they shake their heads at ours 😁 but I want bugs, insects, hedgehogs and rabbits, etc. to thrive here.Deni…bounty are the best!

THe deal here is odd.
WE have a wheelie bin for food, collected fortnightly.
If you add even a weed you are charged a yearly fee, around £40.
I just think it's odd as it all goes in the same bin, & then in the same lorry!

badmemory said:Ours are still free fortnightly & include food waste. I think it is cheaper for them to do that than to pay for it all to land up in landfill. A couple of years ago they sent out a leaflet explaining how much each type of disposal cost. The idea is that the more you get in the cheaper versions the less the council tax is likely to go up. A few years ago I was at someones house & someone was ranting about how SHE wasn't going to do the councils job for them by putting her waste in the right bins & a couple of people agreed with her.
As another one who works in local government I also understand that Councils financial situations are absolutely dire, so they have no choice but to charge for anything they provide that doesn't legally have to be free, like garden waste. Blame the banks and the current government's policy of slashing local government central funding.Live the good life where you have been planted.

Good morning and happy Wednesday ☕️☕️☕️📚🍫
it must be raining….I know this as MrWW took dog out before he left and I woke up to a soggy hound spooning on the bed with me 🤣 I do wish she’d been quickly rubbed down 😬
Yesterday I ordered a free kindle book called Mary Bennet and the Bingley Codex by Joyce Harmon. I don’t know if it will be any good, but it’s free so I’ve added it to my to be read pile. I like magic and I like regency so it has the potential to be good if it’s written well. I thought I’d mention it in case any of you want a free book to try. The first in quite a lot of series seem to be free or very cheap, which is good as I can then judge if it’s worth paying for the rest.
Just work today and limping along until Monday and payday.I was watching YouTube of under the median that I’d seen someone recommend. They don’t offer any amazing tips and I still don’t get how they paid their mortgage in 5 years, but they are fun to watch. Such a nice couple. Very American though, we don’t seem to have any British equivalents.I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday full of happiness and money saving 📚☕️🍫🌸Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

Happy hump day WW 😊
We pay annually for our garden waste bin but don't always fill it. It's only £36 a year and worth it to me as I don't have a car to take anything to the dump. Over the fence at the back of our house there is a sheer drop covered in bushes which is a haven for wildlife. The council used to clear it every so often which they no longer do and I think it's better left wild.
Soon be payday!I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2 -
Morning WW and friends
I am off to the office shortly and after work i am driving 200+ miles to see my family. I hope I can get away from work by 5 so at least part of my journey will be in the light. It is a nice day here with blue sky, at last!
Happy hump day everyone

I like hope and Larry from under the median. As you say no mind blowing tips but very watchable and useful as a reminder that you have to budget on what you have.Dedicated Debt Free Wanabee 🤓
