Good luck with the healthy eating!  I always layer frozen fruit on top of the dry oats, then as they defrost overnight, the oats soak up the liquid.  Adds flavour and helps reduce the clagginess.

I do the same. Fresh fruit makes it too dry. It’s a good way to use up the bits of small berries that get left in the bottom of a frozen mixed berry bag too.

  • Good morning and happy Wednesday ☕️📚☕️
Just hot porridge again this morning 😢 I’m officially at the gnaw your own arm off stage..where the enthusiasm has worn out and your body suddenly realises it has to live on enough calories rather than plentiful calories 😖 I go to sleep thinking about food and wake up thinking about food….hopefully it will get better soon. Is it lunchtime yet??
However, I must think about future me that can wear jeans and breathe at the same time, and doesn’t look like MrBlobby’s older, sadder cousin 😬
I hope you all have a wonderful day ☕️📚🍫🌈

Morning! Sitting in bed drinking tea (again!) Not quite enough achieved yesterday so had better crack on a bit today.

I think the problem with that kind of diet is that it takes willpower to maintain, I have little so have make sure I'm not too hungry.  Perhaps try something more filling for breakfast, like a couple of boiled eggs with no toast? Not very calorific but will fill you up for longer. Chop up lots of veg sticks and have in fridge for when you get hungry, then you can munch with a clean conscience? The blood sugar diet is a very good read about it's not just how much we eat but what we eat that affects our health. 100 calories of broccoli is clearly better for you than 100 calories of cake. Ooh the sun's has just come out, must do something useful. Have a good day all x
  • But who would choose 100 calories of broccoli over 100 calories of cake? 😬

Protein fills you up for longer, can you incorporate some into your meals.

  • Make sure you are drinking plenty of fluids as one of the early signs of dehydration can be mistaken for hunger, as a bonus the fluid will swell any fibre in your diet also making you feel less hungry.

I find I need to eat some protein at every meal otherwise I feel hungry quite quickly, even just 20g of peanuts (5g protein 120 calories approx) works for me.

When i am trying to eat better and lose weight the battle is totally in my head.  I might've mentioned veganuary (many times sorry :( but because i could only eat vegan food that is all i ate.  If i say i'm going to reduce or calorie count or only have a treat on Saturday i find i cheat all the time - usually because i've had a bad day and deserve a treat.
What does work for me is if i have a full plate of lots of different things - eg salad with different types of leaves, tomatoes, cucumber, pepper, radish, celery plus a HB egg for protein.  I'd really love that with a massive portion of cheese and coleslaw but not at the moment!!
I have to be back in the office at least 2 days a week so am going to only take healthy food of sensible sized portions on those days to try to kickstart better habits.

now what shall i have for lunch ....

  • All good pointers, thank you. So far I have had porridge with skimmed milk, a bbq mugshot and a very thinly sliced bit of seeded bloomer. Probably about 600 calories altogether. Tonight I plan to have a roast chicken and veg ready meal (as MrWW is on nights and ready meals are properly portioned (I.e. bl**dy small)). Then a bit of fruit and a small treat for supper. I’m aiming for around 1200-1400 cals for now. Until I either can spare more, or explode into a chocolate feeding frenzy!! Even half a stone down would be better than nothing, but I’m such a slow loser, sigh 😢
