If you can afford to run your own car then why not. I don’t drive and relied on Mr SA who can no longer drive because of his brain damage. To be honest most of the time I don’t really need a car, I enjoy walking and get a taxi if I need to but then I live within walking distance of amenities. It might be a different story if we lived out in the sticks.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2

@Sun_Addict were you ever tempted to learn? I’ve always lived out of the way and now it’s 11 miles to the nearest town over countryside with no pavements so a car is essential. When I was growing up we walked miles to school in all weathers without a thought, no wonder I was fit back then! I was just watching someone trying the Chloe Ting 14 day workout and I’m exhausted 🤣
I said to MrWW I would buy all new clothes if I can lose a stone and a half and he said he’ll buy them. He thinks his money is safe, but I’m so very motivated to get those clothes right now 🤣Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

I did learn to drive many years ago but failed my test. I should’ve put in for it again as it was just nerves but I had 2 young kiddies and there were other priorities. Having said that I don’t really need a car, the cost of running one outweigh the times I’d use it. I’m only 3 miles from the city centre and less from the countryside. If I was further afield I would’ve persevered.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)3

I have to say I see where you are coming from but as I get significantly older I don't think I could manage without one. Especially with arthritis & sciatica kicking in & mobility becoming an issue.

We went from two cars to one a few years ago when the one died. It's not easy as we have to take Mr M_F 12miles one way then back plus another 6 to my work. He walks about two and a half miles to the train on way back and then either I pick him up or he walks another two miles back. It's blooming hard work but we simply can't afford another car at the minute. If work wasn't involved we could easily manage with one maybe even none.
I think distance needed to travel is a big deciding factor like you WW. We are on a main bus route and nearest town is walkable so we cope. You out in the sticks need your own vehicle.Dedicated Debt Free Wanabee 🤓

All this car talk is making me sad. Mine has died recently and we're down to one. Trying to find another in my budget is hard work!3

We only run one car now that we are retired but had to have 2 when we were working as DH did shift work which didn't work with the hours I worked. In fact when he was on nights (10pm-6am) we used to pass each other in the village and wave as I left home just before 6 to get to the station, 15 miles away, for a train about 6.30am.
The one car works fairly well apart from occasionally on a Wednesday morning when I go out and DH plays golf. Usually his friend picks him up but if he isn't able to it means I have to get up earlier to take him to the golf course so that I can have the car and then go and pick him up in the afternoon once he's finished. Fortunately it doesn't happen very often!
Definitely could be without a car as taxis are very expensive and the bus only runs during the day. The last bus home from the nearest town is 5.45pm! Not even any good if you work normal 9-5 hours in the city as the city is an hour's train ride away!

Good morning and happy Saturday ☕️📚🌈
We are going out for lunch today and I plan to have my favourite Mac n cheese before beginning the being good in earnest! I weighed and measured this morning and was pleased to see 2lbs have gone since my after Christmas weigh in shock! I am still super motivated to get those clothes!
MrWW has ordered me a new Fitbit as mine has given up. The screen is so faint I could only read it in the dark and now it’s so bad I can’t even do that…I woke one night and thought something was wrong with my eyesight 🤣 So I will be able to see my pitiful steps again after Tuesday and hopefully make an effort. The lunch today is an anniversary gift from my lovely mum, so very MSE 😁, but I do have a parcel to post.
I hope you all have wonderful Saturdays, doing just what you fancy 🌈📚☕️🍫Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

It's happy Saturday and happy half term for me! 🎉🎉🥳
I'm such a child, it's like going back to school will NEVER happen 😂. I've already celebrated by going out with s friend last night and now off for brunch. Will need to get a handle on spending after that or all my good frugalness since Christmas will be eroded!
I've signed up again for Kindle free trial month and when 8yo allows just plan to be stuck into my books. With some nice walks and a bit of garden tidying thrown in. If I tidy the garden by next weekend I'm allowed to go and buy some plants - from the 'house' pot.
Have wonderful days!
