It's an electrician I crave.  I have a plumber on speed dial so not an issue & also this house doesn't seem to have water issues.  The same cannot be said of electricals.  You know how you have rings for the electrics, whicdh tend to be upstairs lights, downstairs lights, upstairs plug sockets, downstairs plugs, cooker, & possibly hot water.  Well I wish.  Lights just fine & as the load is light it would never be a problem apaprt of course from the fact that all the wires were the same colour so my father said we needed an electrician because he didn't want to take any risks (fair enough can't blame him for that).  Downstairs plugs not a major problem unless you assume that something downstairs is actually on the downstairs ring.  Upstairs ring comes under the OMG code.  The plug nearest the downstairs meter is on the upstairs ring (UR).  The external garage is on the UR.  The kitchen extension is on the UR.  Two plugs in the living room & one in the kitchen are on the hot water ring.  The really annoying thing is that as I moved in I did a whole list of what went through where & a year on I had a new electrician in to fit something else, he saw my list & as he walked out the door said you don't need that anymore screwed it up & put it in his pocket.  Never used him again, what a plonker.  I think he thought he had me over a barrel.  I wouldn't have used him if he was the last electrician on earth.
  • Can I share your leccy when you find one please. We also have a good plumber who was recommended but my snagging list of electrical work gets longer and longer 🤣

  • @badmemory my last house, but one, had weird rings too! It was like a mad scientist had been practicing there. Here we are ok as long as we don’t vacuum using the porch plug, or plug certain kitchen items in one of the kitchen plugs 😬 I’ve only known two electricians and I wouldn’t have wished them on anyone 😁
