  • I feel ashamed of using Amazon at all. Somehow, paying them annually means I am tied to them for another year with no possibility of giving up my addiction on a monthly basis. Just think of all those independent bookshops who will go bust because I am in thrall to Jeff Bezos, and consider the plight of all the underskilled and underpaid workers kept miserable in those horrendously vast and chilly warehouses...

It’s hard isn’t it? Yet I hope my kindle addiction is saving some trees and resources, my prime video watching is helping the film industry and the warehouse workers at least have paid jobs until they find something better. They do have a bad rep for some things, but I like to hope they aren’t any worse than a lot of others.

  • Good morning and happy Friday 📚☕️🍫 At last!
Well that escalated quickly yesterday, if only I was on commission for all this money saving 🤣 I’ve never been a good influence before (smug face). It’s really so awful that when we are at our lowest points the annual money saving option is a pipe dream. I also think pots/spreadsheets/ynab or whatever budgeting people use is a godsend for saving in advance for next years expected payments.  Before I had separate accounts and spreadsheets it was a complete muddle and the expense of monthly dd’s was the only way to keep up to everything.
Today is just work and the usual jobs, but I’m looking forward to the weekend. I need to get on with that quilt!
I hope you all have the nicest of days, with the easiest, lightest work and a good selection of crisps and snacks 🪄🍫📚☕️

I agree, I always try and buy local where I can but the choice on Amazon means I do buy there sometimes.

The worst stories about amazon are about America where they are no worse than any other employer.  They don't seem to have any employment legislation there at all.

I also pay Amazon up front. Subs came out yesterday.  Insurance is another thing you should be aiming for upfront payments on too.

I'm partial to cheese puffs and onion rings for the crisp of choice.
