I love GH, excellent choice for a never-fail WW. I'm at my Mum's with 8yo for a few days and Kindle won't pick up the WiFi to download latest book of series! Have 3 to read before the 5th of Jan 😱.
Oh no! Which series is it?
Have you ever read the Flashman series? This series is a bit like that but set mostly at sea - they are great fun adventures. I'll be most irked if I can't finish them in time 😂
I love GH but never see them at 99p?! How do you spot them?
Search Georgette Heyer in kindle, then sort/filter on price low to high. Right now it’s Venetia and April Lady. Every so often they change.
I have read Flashman, a long time ago. Is it like Hornblower? They were sea ones.

  • @elbree that’s a good one too. I think Black Sheep was the first I ever found.

You're actually my hero right now @WinterWarrior! What a find, thanks!  Yes, like a cross between Flashman and Hornblower and GH (there's a huge inheritance in there too and some dastardly villains) They are called the Fletcher series and are great fun.

I will hold my hands up that around the age of 15, I started to read and collect all Barbara Cartland books. Thank goodness my taste has now change to the likes of Alys Clare, C J Samson and Candace Robb. Xx

  • @amber03 I can’t afford to be a book snob, I love YA fiction and have read the Twilight Saga, Hunger Games trilogy, etc. More times than I’d care to admit 😁 I’ve only read one Barbara C, it was the Lady and the Highwayman and I got it because I loved the film adaptation. Loved the book, silly and could almost feel the pink seeping through the pages, but still with its own charm 😊

My MIL collected Barbara Cartland books - I sold them all on ebay.  Someone in Italy bought 40 in one go!!  I nearly had kittens!  However, it went well and they came back and bought a load more!

I love trashy books, they have their place in the world.  I was listening to one of the twilight books the other day, I was getting so cross about the inappropriateness of the relationship, but they are one I go back to.  I also read a lot of YA and even children's fiction.

I love the Hunger Games books, and finally read the fourth the other day, it was great!

Happy New Year to you all :)

I mainly used to read thrillers until a work colleague started giving me pink and fluffy books and I found they weren’t as bad as I thought (mostly). I now read one thriller then a chic lit one to balance it out 😆
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)
  • @jwil the fourth was so well written I was almost liking Snow at some points! I wonder if they’ll make it into a film?
@Sun_Addict I normally avoid chic lit too, odd as I love the hallmark type films 😬

    Happy New Year 🥳
I wish you all health, wealth and happiness (waves wand 🪄)
I had a wander around the garden in my pj’s, boots and big coat at 7am with dog, then she came back to bed with me and is still star fishing in the middle in the way only a large dog can do 🐶
I’m looking forward to reading everyone’s new year plans.
Today I will be cooking Christmas dinner number 2, reading, not spending and opening the fizz as we saved it for the dinner. Yesterday evening I celebrated with a snowball and the essential cherries 🍒 and some Cadbury’s chocolate snowy fingers 😋
I hope you all have a wonderful New Year’s Day 📚☕️🍫

I was too, I was really torn :D   It would be good if they made a film of it.

I quite like chick lit, I tend to avoid historical fiction (shoot me now, all you Georgette Heyer fans :D )  and sci fi/fantasy, but saying that, I have read books in both genres that I love, so I do make an effort sometimes.
