It's a good one I often recommend for people wanting to start with Discworld.  My Discworld books are all in a box in the garage at the moment but plan to re-read them all again this year.

I bought the first discworld books from the Forbidden Planet bookstore which was just off Charing Cross Road in London when I was 18 (a lot of years ago, I'm 54 now). They made me laugh out loud on my morning/evening commute.

    Happy New Year everyone.

I usually stick to the same genre when reading books, light detective types, and I must admit I have never read a Georgette Heyer book, I will have to get one out of the library.  Many years ago I had my mom's  Darling Buds of May series by H E Bates which I thoroughly enjoyed, the first tv series I enjoyed as it was quite true to the books, but the new one isn't but I enjoy it for what it is!
My dd2 loves Terry Pratchet and has all his books, well they are sealed in a box in my attic, and bought many of the figures as well. (She lives abroad now.) But although I have read many of them there's only a few I enjoyed, my dd used to laugh out loud when reading them as well!
Anyway off to bed, for a read!!!

My Dad was an avid reader and got me started on Discworld when I was about 17, early 1990's just as TP was starting on them. I didn't keep up with the later books so still have them to go. I particularly love the Witches and Nightwatch. I also really enjoyed the tv adaptations.  I've not read any Georgette Heyer, love a bit of Jilly Cooper though! The Man Who Made Husbands Jealous is my favourite and my go to for holidays.

  • I love reading but I just struggle for time with it now as a single mum of 3 :(
I want to get better at making time for me and for reading but I still have quite a stash of books to get through but feel like the library could be a great way to go both for money saving and the time pressure to return the books.
I have thoroughly failed my goodreads target this year as I wasn’t expecting my change in circumstances :(

@Tiredbutdetermined it's hard to make time for yourself.  Maybe 10 mins at bedtime every night? I use the library and get audio books on borrowbox from them. Might that be a way to go?

  • I have no idea how borrowbox works but audiobooks could be good for my commute to and from
    work.
