  • Thanks SA. Being debt free does give a different mindset. For instance our vacuum is awful, we got a cheapy when the last one died and it’s just awful. Before, I would have bought a replacement on my card, but now I’m putting up with it as there’s no way I’m going backwards for a vacuum 😬 It’s more the little things that trip me up. Also I want instant progress, but with monthly wages and living costs it’s hard to move up quickly with what’s left ☹️

  • Morning
agree WinterWarrior - i only became debt free in March this year and i am not jeopardising that by using a CC; i haven't even used my CC since October 2018!
Our virtual team meeting for tomorrow has been cancelled so there is no festive cheer - real or forced - at our place!

You are still making progress though, even with the setbacks, so well done :)

  • Bah humbug @Deni_debt-free_dreamer 🎅🏻 Normally our lot love to inflict a virtual meeting, so you’ve dodged a bullet there 😬
I only became debt free in June. I haven’t had money owed on a credit card for over a year, but do still use it linked to my Amazon account and pay it back the second I use it. I keep it for the purchase protection, but just that one card and nothing else. I think it’s very hard to not need that safety net too and just rely completely on having enough if something went wrong.
    Thanks @jwil

  • It's  a great feeling to be debt free :) Such a relief after years of being in debt.  I do have a CC, like you say, i need that safety net but i haven't needed to use it since Oct 2018.
We only have a whole team meeting once a month & we were going to have an update on the organisation's transformation programme so that isn't exactly festive !  Will be glad of the free hour to do other stuff ...

Good morning and happy Monday 🍫☕️📚🎄 3 days of work left…I hope I survive!
I did my 2022 spreadsheet and plan yesterday, ready for early pay on the 23rd.
For December..the good - I end on £550 more in savings than at the end of November. I haven’t touched my pots. Christmas is bought and paid for. I have a 2022 plan. My credit card is cleared after every purchase, even before the spend hits the balance. We paid about £30 extra to the mortgage.
The bad - I took a few hundred back from general savings and am still less overall than I was in September when I had ‘the bad month’. It will take me until the end of January to get back to where I was and February to increase them.
The ugly - sticking to plan is hard! Where I save with one hand, I often spend with the other. I’m no longer paying out loans and should be able to at least save the difference each month, but always fall short.
I need to kick in my inner dragon and sit on my pile of gold hoarding it and breathing fire on any tempting special offers 🔥🤣
One good thing is I have so many lovely chocolate presents turning up that I shouldn’t need to buy any chocolate for months!
I hope you all have a marvellous Monday filled with wonderful happy things ☕️🍫📚🎄
£500 more in savings AND Christmas paid for!? That's amazing! I think you are being way too tough on yourself, it's OK to have a 'bad' month. In fact I alternate. One month I'm allowed to be bad if the month before I was 'good'. I'm not always bad but because I'm 'allowed' the temptation isn't so strong! As long as the savings head in roughly the right direction..... I clearly have pretty low expectations of myself 😂

Feel better soon @elbree…and your daughter. Ear ache is horrible ☹️
And thanks, we're a bit brighter today. Still stuck in until Christmas Eve 😬
  • Thanks @elbree, I think it’s more that my bad month was so bad it will take several months to claw back 😬… I have no idea what happened!

Just do your best to combat that bad month, I  think we are all too hard on ourselves and expect too much, as has been said you are heading in the right direction and that's good!!!!

I love the doggy beach photo you live in a lovely area.

  • Good morning and happy Tuesday, just two work days to go 🎄☕️🍫📚
Today will be NSD no.14. My cheapy jeans should arrive today. I have high hopes for them as the description says they are a modern design which will make me look more attractive and charming 🤣🤣🤣 I love a foreign description … unless of course they really are magic in which case woohoo 😁
I had a handful of Pringles, a mince pie and a satsuma for lunch yesterday…I don’t think you can get more Christmassy than that for a quick grab lunch 😁
I hope you all have a terrific Tuesday filled with Christmas goodies and all nice things 🍫☕️☕️📚🎄
