  • Good morning and happy Tuesday 🍫🍁📚☕️
Nothing exciting to report here. Just work and hopefully another NSD.
We need to replace our Christmas tree this year and the one we had our eye on is sold out already! I guess I should have bitten the bullet instead of dithering at the £100 spend. It says there may still be ones in store, but that’s a 60 mile round trip. I might ring and see if they have one before we make that trek, but I’m not sure if we’d have time this weekend. I bet Santa doesn’t have this trouble!
I hope you all have a tremendous Tuesday filled with coffee, treats and as little work as possible 😬📚🍫☕️

  • Where do you live WW?  sounds very remote!!  I've never got into Strictly (probably because I am the least co-ordinated person ever!) but very glad Masterchef Professionals has started.

I’m not coordinated either…if any dancing is being done I will be doing what I do best (hiding in a corner mocking the people braver than I 🤣), but I love to watch it. MrWW can tell if they are out of time 😮 I have no clue…none!
    Do you watch GBBO?

  • Good morning and happy Wednesday 📚☕️🍫
I've had to do a bit of reshuffling as I wasn’t going to get to the end of the month, or cover the Christmas bits I need to before the end of the month…and I’m still waiting for the plumbers bill 😖 So my savings will be going down, but I’ve taken enough out to cover everything (unless the plumbing was gold plated) am drawing a firm line under the savings and from next month will be on a mission to top them back up. All being well, everything will go back in next month and will then increase in January. I know it’s not great, but by doing it this way I won’t touch my pots (and no longer count them in the savings totals) so they can still get to where they need to be and that in turn will stop me needing to use savings in future for plumbing emergencies or regular things like Christmas. I was fretting about affording these two things, which is a bit silly when I do have savings. I just need to draw a line and make good next month. Why is saving so hard? 😖
Work is ‘fun’ as I’ve taken on some new jobs in addition to my own and have no idea what I’m doing yet. The person who had them is off long term, so no real handover.
Oh well, onwards and upwards! I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday filled with magic and wonder and all good things 🍫☕️📚🍁

    Happy Wednesday!

I’m having a wrapping present day today, lots of bits for the grandchildren to take with us, they enjoy having clothes no one else has. Got a good haul in Primarni and Ma!alan in the sales.

enjoy your new tasks, did you volunteer or were you the chosen one? Hard without a handover I bet.

Have a day with choc, books, coffee and Labrador love, one month and one day until I see the puppy, not that we’re counting ........

Happy Wednesday ☺️ I’ve taken on a strange assortment of tasks at work as people have moved on. At least it adds variety to my day if nothing else.

Saving is harder than paying off debt, it’s getting into the right mindset. I set up a standing order into my regular saver account, it goes out at the beginning of the month and I can’t touch it until it matures after 12 months. This is working really well for me.

  • Exciting @carolbee I can understand the attraction of having different ‘English’ clothes 😁 very exotic.
The jobs were trickery, sold as much less work than they actually are 😮
@Sun_Addict I’m always a bit frightened to lock them in! I do have a few savings accounts. One has an overnight transfer if I want to take any back, so that sits quietly out of the way. Then I have the pots, again separate, but the easy access stash is like a yo-yo 😖 I’m planning to try and increase the harder to access one and keep the yo-yo much smaller 😬

I started off with the minimum monthly amount and gradually increased it to the maximum over a few years. I could access it if I really needed to, I would just lose the interest, although I have an emergency fund saved in an ISA that I would use first but only for real emergencies. It’s taken a long time to get in the mindset but I’m now fiercely protective of my savings pots and won’t use them for anything other than what they’re meant to be for.

  • With interest rates the way they currently are, you'd not lose much from withdrawing early anyway. Locking in is more of a psychological thing. (as the flipside is you're not gaining much!)
