Thanks @Sun_Addict…when I checked my mail there was a pre order kindle that had landed, so not an NSD after all 🤦🏻♀️….. I will just class tomorrow as a spend day, so it doesn’t muck up the challenge page 😬
I didn’t want to commit to a set amount and would rather bash bits across as and when…that feels a bit less like a bill and more like a challenge then. I agree, the prices going up could make a real nasty difference to everyone ☹️The weather is really wild and windy and rainy here this morning. Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

I think the extra £100 a month is a good idea SA; at least then when the bills go up you'll have been used to not paying that money and to move it over to the bills as necessary!

Gosh it’s windy down here! All safe but lots of leaves around on the ground. Trying for a few no spend days here too, out for lunch on Sunday though 😉
gradually getting the stocks up, I like to have one on the go and at least two in the ‘ war/snow/brexit cupboard’ tying to increase for things like coffee, teabags, loo rolls etc
Keep safe all
Hi @joedenise, I met you some years ago at Faversham, lovely JackieO was there.Carolbee4 -
I am focused on overpaying our mortgage, we able to overpay by up to 10% of the original amount per year, but I don't have a large amount spare. So I send what I can, mainly money generated from surveys, cashback etc, with the aim of reducing my daily interest. Getting this down by a penny a day is something that feels achievable and is easy for me to track 🏡
We too keep a stock cupboard, but yesterday I ran out of chopped tinned tomatoes, epic fail, but still first world problems 🍅Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

Hi @carolbee - yep I remember. JackieO was lovely, shame she decided to leave the forum when it changed - I'm sure she'd have got used to it the same as we all have. It was lovely to meet some MSErs. Don't think there are many of us still posting.
I like to keep a good stock cupboard too for days when it's difficult to get out. I'm about 8 miles from the nearest SM so don't want to be going out in the snow! I bulk buy lots of things like beans, pulses, tomatoes, tea bags, coffee, UHT milk. I actually have a monthly budget for bulk buys on YNAB but don't necessarily bulk buy stuff every month so it builds up.
That's a good idea @Baileys_Babe trying to get the daily interest down a penny at a time. Just glad my mortgage is finally paid off. I didn't know about being able to overpay until I joined MSE! Well I did buy our first mortgage you had to overpay by lump sums of £1000 so it just didn't happen. It was only over the last 4 or 5 years that I really started to overpay small amounts and it was amazing what a difference it made. The only trouble was when the annual statement came in there were loads of pages!

That’s so funny, I can just imagine my paper statement now if I’m doing a few pounds here and there, but often 😁
we are over 10 miles from the small SM and over 30 from the bigger one, so we are the same preparing for bad weather. We gave in and got an extra freezer last year, which is such a help in winter. Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

Good morning and happy Friday woohoo 🥳
A weekend off and one week to pay day!
next month I have a few spends planned as we really need to replace our tatty Christmas tree, I promised MrWW a winter coat that he likes and then Christmas presents. Ideally I’d like them done and dusted in November as I don’t have a huge amount of people to buy for.Today is a spend day as I need to count the pre order book, so I will use this day to buy advents and chocolates for my nearest and dearest. It won’t be cheap, but it’s only once a year. It will exceed what I have left, so I will count it out of November budget, rather than hit my savings. I have a good discount code for £20 off an £80 spend at hotel c. For next year I will start a Christmas pot outside of my normal savings.
It’s very windy and wet here today.
I hope you all have a fabulous Friday, with lots of good luck and wonderful things ☕️🍰🍫📚Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

Happy Friday 😁 For my Christmas pot I just shave off the oddments from any money coming in and any money left over from that week's grocery budget goes in too. Usually get around £600 by end of October time which is ample.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)4

Morning. Yes, when I've been organised to put money aside for annual things like Xmas, birthdays etc it's been very helpful, and much less panic trying to find funds at the last minute.Live the good life where you have been planted.

Such a good idea, at the moment I count the pots I have in the overall savings and then don’t want to go backwards…so really I need to keep them totally separate, without counting them in. This budgeting and savings malarkey is hard! Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien
