Under £20k @Deni_debt-free_dreamer….something I can only dream of 😟 I think it will take another 7 or 8 years to get to that point 😭 I got very excited when it dropped under a hundred.
We have oil heating so can literally see it going down as we use it….I’ve been tempted today as it’s chilly.
@Carolbee a wine offer! How lovely. We don’t have an A**a up here…and being in Scotland we are not allowed to have wine offers…beats me how that helps (and I don’t know any Scottish alcoholics…although that could be because of tha lack of offers 🤔) 🤣Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

I'm upper end of mid 50s so i think i'm a bit older than you!! I am going to have a spendy time up to the end of the year as i will have to visit DD2 regularly as she is in pain and not very mobile at the moment plus needs TLC.WinterWarrior said:Under £20k @Deni_debt-free_dreamer….something I can only dream of 😟 I think it will take another 7 or 8 years to get to that point 😭 I got very excited when it dropped under a hundred.
I didn't know that about Scotland and alcohol - I think there are plenty of alcoholics south of the border, i've been related to 2
My washing has been out and in about 5 times today and is 2/3s dry so i'll take that as a win in late October
I'm excited for Shetland on TV tonight

Do you know, @WinterWarrior that it never clicked with me until you said it , that minimum pricing per unit in Scotland would mean no alcohol deals. Never thought of it at all. I can't say it has made any difference that I've seen to any alcoholics I know north of the border.
@Deni_debt-free_dreamer I totally forgot about Shetland! I love it!Live the good life where you have been planted.

The problem is with alcohol that if you like it that much you will buy it at double the price & then when you run out of money you will find another way to get the money for it. The problem is they make these policies & think that they are going to work the way non alcoholics would think & they don't. Putting the price up is never going to stop an alcoholic needing alcohol.Looking forward to Shetland too!!3

@Deni_debt-free_dreamer, early 50’s, but had to start a new mortgage in my 40’s after being robbed in a nasty divorce 😭 MrWW was much in the same boat, so 10% deposit was our lot. Soul destroying as I’d remortgaged a few times to bail out the ex and then he put a charge on the house (my house) and got a pay out from that, plus a large chunk of my pension. Saying that, I’d pay it again to not be there and I’m pretty sure everything will have gone on drink by now!
I hope your daughter feels better soon.
You are all right about the pricing…where there’s a will there’s a way!Luckily we got a lovely bargain bottle of champagne in L*dl last week and it is squirrelled away for having with Christmas dinner 😬 it wasn’t their cheapest, but was still about £8 cheaper than Mr T’s own brand!I haven’t seen Shetland for years! We watched Squid Game on Netflix…has anyone seen it? It was surprisingly watchable for a Korean dubbed series! Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

sounds very difficult WW but if you are happy now then i guess you have to look forward and not back.
I split from my partner 14 years ago but we had no mortgage; i had to give him half the value of the house so took on a mortgage. That started my 14 year journey of debt (ie CCs) which only ended this year!
Thanks re DD2, will take a while to get better both physically and mentally as it has made her depressed; she usually keeps active to help with her MH. She will get there.
I bought some M$S festive gin a few weeks ago in the light up bottle
I haven't watched Squid Game as my DDs cautioned that it is not suitable for me! I like crime drama but cannot watch anything violent (ok with inferred or offscreen!). My DDs love it though! I'm also watching Hollington Drive (big fan of AMM)LBM - October 2018; finally debt free on 16 March 2021

Good morning and happy Thursday ☕️🧁🍁
I made another £21 something payment to the mortgage yesterday to take it to an even number, now I know the test worked…and this morning it’s gone off with an extra penny down so it’s still not a round number! Clearly I can’t fixate on evening it up as it will never work. It must be something to do with the daily interest, although normally that only goes off once a month as a bulk amount normally.
I am calling early for an NSD which means I’ve hit my 15 day target the earliest ever! I’ve still not saved half as much as I should have this month, but if I don’t spend more than £35 between now and pay day then at least my savings will have gone up a bit (although sadly not to their July levels yet…hopefully next month I can get them back on track).
@Deni_debt-free_dreamer I love the look of those light up bottles 😁 I was ogling them the other week while looking at the massive, massive hampers no one can ever afford 🤣
I hope you all have a tremendous Thursday filled with the lightest of work and the nicest treats 🧁☕️🍰🍫📚Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

Happy Thursday. Well done on hitting your NSD target. I think I set my target too high, I forgot I had quite a few unavoidable spend days this month. I might just scrape through to hit it though. I set my mortgage overpayment to automatically take £100 extra out, whether this will be doable once the gas/electric bills shoot up is uncertain, I can cancel it if I need to.
Have a fabulous day.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1
