I'm safe from buying magic pants. The first description that I read said they had a percentage of polyester in their construction and I'm allergic to polyester. Lovely, fluffy (polyester) Primark jim jams bring me out in a rash and when I fell down the stairs and made a hole in my leg I had to be cut free from the pressure bandage less than 24 hours after it was applied. It turned out that the bandage also contained polyester and my leg looked like I had very bad sunburn. I have to read every clothing label on every single thing that I buy. Probably why I tend to stick with things that I already have as long as possible.

Ah Cranky that sounds annoying. I’m not sure how polyester is made? I suppose we should be going for the more sustainable natural materials, but apart from reducing plastic, buying less and reusing as much as I can, I haven’t really investigated the best things to buy.

Yep. And in silk noil with linen thread which splits and unravels every 10 inches or so. Madness.

The field time I see it being flown in gusty winds (or worse, dropped! :flushed: ) at an event next year I'm going to have to have a quiet moment sitting in my tent.

Good morning and happy bank holiday 🌸🍫☕️📚
One of the cats is yelling about breakfast, despite being fed at 4, 6 and 7am. He’s ill and doesn’t process food very well, will eat and eat, barf and eat again. He has liver issues, so there are some things he’s not good with (most cat food) and eats shed loads of tuna and chicken. He’s woken up dog and now she’s grumbling as she’d have been out by now on a work day 😟
The plan is to go out for lunch 😋 and MrWW’s treat 😁I am hoping to repeat the glorious brownie sundae experience 😋🍫
No spends planned, which is a relief as pay day isn’t until tomorrow!
I hope you all have marvellous days filled with wonderful things ☕️📚🍫

Polyester is plastic, it's notorious for shedding microplastics every time we wash.   That said, it can be made from recycled plastic and has other benefits.  Cotton and other fabrics have poor environmental impacts too.    Fashion has a terrible environmental impact, and if I remember rightly is responsible for about 10% of carbon emissions and 20% of water pollution globally. The best thing we can do is buy less (and wear what we buy), buy second hand, and sell, donate or recycle once we've finished with it.

Enjoy your bank holiday :)  A brownie sundae sounds fab!

Thanks everyone. Jwil, I do remember reading how intensive cotton farming and producing is. You are right, less is the way to go!
Cranky if memory serves it was large chunks of lovely brownie (the kind with a crunch on the outside), ice cream and fresh cream on top. It might have had sauce, I can’t remember, I just remember it’s deliciousness. I will take note today and report back.

  • Hi everyone, i want a brownie sundae too, it sounds very yummy !  It's a bit dull here in the NW but so long as i get my washing dry i don't mind :) I buy about half my clothes from charity shops, partly money saving ness and partly reducing waste.  I'd love a library, i don't like reading on a kindle prefer the paper versions, i just bought a new small pine bookcase from a CS to house some of them ...
