Morning all xx
Well, that wasn't on the script !!! Driving to work yesterday the car in front of me suddenly stopped. I managed to stop without hitting it- made my brakes squeal and my heart was in my mouth but phew! Did it. Then I looked in my rear view mirror 😲. And braced myself...the car behind me didn't stop in time. Crunch. I held it together, exchanged details, drove to work, went into the office and had a panic attack.
I spent a good part of the morning on the phone to my insurance broker, then my insurance company (???) and spoke to 111 - as advised by my supervisor. Naggy Nora has a Naggy Jenny 🤣 I expected to feel worse today but still just minor aches thank goodness. Taking my car to the garage at 8.30 to get checked over- my concern is hidden damage to the chassis - so if everyone could please keep their fingers crossed for a clean bill of health please. It would be much appreciated.
Pat on the back for ionafan from NN. Look after yourself xx
Hugs to all.
Oh flying! I have started to declutter my bedroom, one item at a time. How do you eat an elephant!!!

What a horrid start to your day, round! Very glad you are OK - hope your car is too xx
I'm feeling a bit better this morning after a gentle day yesterday and a decent night's sleep. I was rather worried about going out with Rosie on my own and was thinking about friends who had said they would like to go for a walk with me at some point - could I ask one of them to go with me? Within 15 minutes of having that thought (but not acting on it) I had a phonecall from my friend J saying "Can I come and walk with you this afternoon?" It was lovely not be have to face the hill alone, and it was great to catch up. Afterwards we sat in sunshine in the garden for an hour, drinking tea and catching up on all the family news. And I managed to declutter 2 packets of frozen hot x buns, a full tub of butter and a head of spinach to J, to share with her daughter and granddaughters. I also have plans for the chocolate and Bourbon biscuits, but probably not for a couple of weeks, so in the meantime I will have to ignore them.
This morning DH is up early to make breakfast and have a shower before going to see the orthopaedics consultant. I am still trying to get through to the bank: at this rate it will be better to go into the branch in town. I am hoping that DS1 will come round at some point today to look at various jobs that need doing, and my gardener friend is coming at 1.30 to do some of the heavier jobs that I can't manage on my own. I checked my sweet pea seedlings yesterday (they've been out in the mini plastic greenhouse for the past 3 weeks) and they are doing well despite the cold nights. I must remember to sort through the dahlia tubers...
I also need/want to
- do WMx1
- tidy the study
- dust and hoover the LR, as yesterday I spotted areas that I had missed earlier in the week
- pot up the pelargonium cuttings
- sow seeds
All relatively gentle stuff.
We're having a Chinese takeaway for tea, our first for many months, cooked to order by a local lady - I haven't even got to go as far as the corner shop to fetch it
Hope everyone has a good day xx10 -
Round... I am glad you are ok and truly hope the car is too.. and thank heavens for a Naggy Jenny!!! Definitely get checked again if you get any extra pains.. I'm not surprised you had a panic attack.. no one needs that!! xxx (((hugs))) Fingers crossed for Brum to have a clean bill of health xx
Moomin is in trouble today... she signed herself sick off college so she can go to her boyfriends.. I am NOT happy and have communicated this in my 'terrifying' growl.. apparently that is scarier than when I shout lol...
While I am cross I have snarled at the male versions to get their behinds out of the house and find a job.. I don't care where, or what, or even if they like it.. I don't even have PMT I'm just fed up of the entitlement and idleness!
I have 2 loads of laundry to hang out, a set of girls bedding to go in, and Moomins and Pixies bedding... We are just heading to Pets @ gnome to stock up on splat litter and meatblob and may treat Sarah to new plants.. I'm thinking I might get her a live plant so she can have snacks too. Her bruise on her tummy has cleared up so she must have just caught herself as she was darting about the tank which is so much better than the (nearly always) fatal ulcers they can get.. PHEW!
I need a Dun£lm run for a double duvet, a replacement airer (Dot broke the leg off mine... again!) and a new diffuser for the bathroom. I will look at the price of stacking boxes for stuffed beasts too.
Then we need a swift Tesc0 dash for squash for Dot .. she only drinks lime.. and jellies for pack ups and food for dinner.. and fruit... hmmm... We will do that once the grubs are in bed.. or tomorrow.. I need to get these beds done today. Or, I can send OH after school pick up.. with a child.. I need to take Twinkle for her feet measuring so we can order her new shoes.
I have 1 ebeats parcel to post and a couple of prescriptions to pick up.
So begins a weekend of productivity..

Morning all,
The last day of my holidays and it's another sunny one. I've got two loads of washing on the line, emptied DW, cleaned filter and run it on a empty hot wash, posted three parcels from FB sales, poo picked and had a lovely long conversation with my friend. Next on the list is to put another item on FB marketplace for sale then cobble some lunch together.Swimming lessons later, burger and wedges for tea.
So glad you're okay Round xx11 -
Blimey Round you take care of yourself xxMoved round the stuff in the garage, so I can make my log heap at the back of it. Got free wood, it needs to be seasoned and chopped up, it seems OH considers logs his department and is going to buy an electric saw at the weekend to make logs.Spare room being blitzedBreast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100 / 100miles

Oh Round poor you, fingers crossed for the damage not being too bad x
Work stuff done for the week, using an hours TOIL as I am tired, possibly cycling yesterday was not the best idea. Debating whether to go for a little walk but I might do a bit of flying instead. Might make lasagnes for tea.
I need to go out and get some food shopping, and deliver a birthday card.
Taking it steady is the plan for the weekend, which doesnt sit well with me, hopefully by next weekend the increase to my medication will have kicked in.11 -
Sorry to hear about the diagnosis Ionafan, but at least it means you can do something to ease the situation. Please take it gently while you divest yourself of everything lovely in the 'fridge, with my commiserations.Well done on keeping it together at the scene, Round; it's hardly surprising you fell apart a bit when you got to work; I would have, too. Thank goodness for supportive colleagues who know about these things.Thank you Narco. We've got a chippie here working on the back door. It hasn't been a problem but for about 10 years the lock hasn't worked and we're now completely mystified why a 3 lever key ever worked in a 5 lever lock for a decade before the hinge apparently broke and rendered the lock completely useless. I have a feeling it was turning in the barrel but not engaging the sticky-out bit in the door frame. Anyway, he's fixing it so that it complies with the insurance. Our premium has gone up quite a bit and there are Endorsements about locks on doors and double-glazing but the brokers who I've been using for 30 years are very clear that it's the best deal out there for us. It's a faff, and we can't see how to comply with the double glazing requirements but the broker's lock specialist is on the case. What a faff. We're both there pretty much all the time but I reckon Lloyds have been hit quite a bit over the past 15 or so months what with one thing and another so I think we can all expect a bit of a shock soon over insurance. I've found that the cheapest quote often isn't the best value but there are some firms that are more straightforward than others.I want to reorganise the freezers today so I can get rid of the one that is worrying me. It'll need to go to the tip because it's got a broken hinge and no-one would want it. It's done stirling service for a secondhand piece of junk so I can't complain. Besides which - *fling*!Better is good enough.10

Today has turned into a celebration - DH has lost enough weight to get his BMI down below 35 and has been put on the waiting list for a new hip! The predicted waiting time is 4-6 months, which is a lot less than we expected9

I swear trying to get this OH to move faster than a dead slug is impossible.. he has absolutely no sense of urgency about anything.. we had 1 hours to strip and dismantle 2 beds.. he haasn't done the first one yet and the time is up..
I havent been watching.. I have stripped the beds, hung 2 loads of washing out, put 2 more in and I am 'shopping' for bed supplies now. It appears pixie has been wetting the bed and OH is a muppet and believed her when she said it was the cat... What is wrong with him???
I need the pub to be open... how many more days??? (31 in case anyone else is counting!)

Woot woot- well done Mr ionafan xx
Do you want the good news or the bad news first?
Good news- my car is ok. The mechanic adjusted the lock on the boot so it now shuts. And apart from the dint, mostly hidden by the bumper, it's fine. If it was a brand new car I'd want the dint sorting, but it's 07 and I'm not going to mess about with insurance claims for a dint you can barely see. Much to the disgust of a vocal friend who hasn't yet learned that the harder you push me the less chance there is of me doing what you say!
Now for the bad news: as I drove into the garage forecourt my right eye went haywire again. Lots of black floaters which settled into a grey curtain of dots. I went to work but my eye didn't improve so I've spent the morning in A&E and at the Eye Clinic. I've had a bleed in my eye but there isn't currently another retinal tear. Got to go back on Wednesday to see how it is - unless I get another bleed, in which case I have to go straight to A&E. So I'm now at home and my car is at work because I can't drive until the drops wear off. I'm guessing that yesterday's bump has something to do with it. But why it would bleed 24 hours later is a mystery! So maybe a coincidence.
DS is coming over tonight and I'll bring my car home and then I'm going to have a weekend. A glorious stress free weekend pretty please.
I've fed the birds, put the recycling out and I put Christmas wrapping paper away this morning. Every little helps
Love to all. Thank you for your sympathy.
