Asda mobile problems

The migration from EE to Vodafone isn't going well.
Asda sent out new SIM cards, and my number was supposed to port yesterday, which it partly did. Can receive calls, but no outgoing calls or texts. Gave up holding on the dedicated helpline after a couple of hours.

From reading Twitter, lots of people have no service at all, in either direction.
Asda are saying it should all resolve itself in the next few days.

Similar problem here. I was using Asda PAYG with a fair amount of credit in my balance my mobile was locked to the EE network which worked fine with the old Asda network. I have reported the problem to Asda that my phone will not work with the new network and it appears that I will have to purchase a new phone to carry on using my current PAYG contract.

The fact the service is moving from one network to another should have given an indication that a network locked phone would be a problem.

Also, “PAYG contract” is an oxymoron, either you’re on PAYG or you’re on contract. If you were on contract and the supplier changed network you would likely be offered a penalty free termination, being on PAYG and  not being tied into a contract means you’re free to move to another supplier anytime you want.

The problem is if I decide to change my network I will then loose my PAYG credit balance.

Worst case to unlock is an £8.99 fee that you could push Asda to reimburse, but it might be free!

Asda are offering to unlock any existing customers phone free of charge if they are locked to the EE network so that they can change to the new provider (Vodafone).  Details on the Asda mobile website.
I am going through the migration process myself, nightmare all around started Monday and still not done but just got a message saying Asda giving me an extra £10 credit for my inconvenience.

I’ve just joined Asda and it’s been horrible so far. The settings are wrong for internet (they’re the EE ones) and every time I try to port my number , I get told to call. Then you get put on hold or told too many people in queue.
Only think that worked is topping up, but even then there was a website error.

I just had a call off them telling me my migration was complete and to restart my phone and everything will be working, but my internet is not working either, tried to contact them but gave up.  Will probably try early in morning.
  • Well I won't be rushing to change, we've got until the 15th September so long before then all the bugs should be ironed out!

Well last night my phone was periodically accessing 4G and my mobile data started working then but then that stopped.  I am very close to the Vodafone mast so there is obviously still a problem at their end.
I wish I had waited as well now but I thought they had things under control - how silly of me!

Unable to get through to ASDA on phone or webchat.  Can't sit around all day waiting, but still no 4G or mobile data consistently.
Weird thing is if I dial out, 4G comes on and then internet works but then after a while disappears again.
Notice on Twitter ASDA say they are aware of the problem are in the process of fixing it.  4 days now since I began the migration process!
