    Thanks @beanielou @Humdinger1

I’ve focused on getting rid of the mortgage but don’t have a thought out plan for what comes later. In another life I’d maybe say a holiday for starters but I’m not really well enough for those. (Post DD, autoimmune condition arrived so energy is limited and pain abundant). I started immunosuppressants recently so hoping it’s the start of getting back on track.

I’ve really ignored things that need to be fixed around the house. Like the bathroom and en-suite. Drain at the front is dodgy. Guttering and fascias. Garden wall needs tlc and perhaps a drainage channel. General repairs and maintenance. The list is endless.

I do wonder if I’ll struggle to spend it after all this though. Prices are going up and up and the money saved from the mortgage and overpayments, whilst large for me, won’t go very far.

Is boredom enough of a reason to pay a chunk off the mortgage? Lots of work upheaval, which I’m fed up with and summer chaos so on a whim I’ve just paid £3200 off the mortgage. It leaves me with £8600 in the emergency fund but after this week’s mortgage payment, I should be sub £20 on the mortgage 🤣

Not sure I’m going to mention it to my husband yet until the balance updates. I think I’m just going to pivot to make it so I save 10k by late September, just as planned with the mortgage.

It’s going to be an expensive month with dentist, car insurance, car recovery, 11+ tuition fees, uniform and god knows what else. I put it at roughly £1222 without adding extras for kids entertainment over the summer.

I’m sure I should feel really happy but there’s always something else to pay for and I’m mostly feeling knackered.

Hope you’re all well btw. I’ve been trying to catch up on threads.

MSE folk are good folk - we get bored and pay off chunks or mortgage or add money to pensions! 🧐

That’s my kind of splurge! I saw on another forum the staggering amount people are paying for holidays and I’m just not built that way. I need to save now for house improvements but surely will struggle to spend then too.
