Happy new year all! Hopefully we’ll all meet our goals this year but I’m sure there’ll be progress and much to learn.
September 2026 remains my target. Whether that’s realistic or not is another matter. Some quick calcs suggest I need to throw another £310 a month at it, plus some of my existing savings. This morning I transferred over £580 as an overpayment from a low interest account. This brings me down to £13763 with the standard payment still to be made in a couple of days. (Without overpayments it would be more than double that!)
Work-wise, there’s yet another restructure. Health-wise, I’m waiting to find out if I need a scary cardiac test. I’m hoping not. It stands between me and starting immunosuppressants that I’m hoping will make my day-to-day easier. Whilst I wait, I need to kick my sugar and gluten habits. Easier said than done and lots of delicious treats in the house..
Hence why I’m controlling what I can: the money! I need to do more batch cooking this year too (and preferably convert the kids to soups and stews). I’ll also have to do a tax return courtesy of Prolific. I’d like more sleep this year too 😁MFW diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6254913/never-a-good-time-but-here-goes#latest

Thanks @Tjh1412 - I’ll believe it when it happens. I could just leave it to run for the next two years but I get itchy fingers to knock the number down. No plan for afterwards though!Tjh1412 said:How exciting to be that close to the finish line. Back to work and school in the morning after two weeks off. Had zero lie-ins during that time but am I bitter? Possibly!
I’ve deliberately paid myself first this month leaving things potentially a squeeze later on in the month. I have however posted 3 items from Vinted today for £13.50. Another item has been reserved but the buyer wants me to look for more similar items. It’ll add up and perhaps offset the inevitable takeaway!I will try and make soup tomorrow though.MFW diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6254913/never-a-good-time-but-here-goes#latest

Thanks @carboot_karaoke - it’s incremental gains.
Things I have done today:
Woke up too early.
Got to the school on time.
Made £17 on Prolific. Taxable yes, but I’ll cross that bridge later.
Made soup and ate it for lunch, along with some gingerbread house.
Took photos for Vinted buyer of other items I have. I’ve not listed them yet but that’ll do for now.Resisted the temptation to pay another chunk off the mortgage. It’s earning more interest elsewhere.I also did some work too but it’s first day back so easing back in and enjoyed the quiet house.MFW diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6254913/never-a-good-time-but-here-goes#latest

I’ve just managed to resist getting a takeaway! It tends to be that Friday is my longest day - commute, work, sometimes school pick up then recommence work, tedious conversation of what to eat. Procrastination then give up and order takeaway.
Admittedly dinner is beige but I really can’t be bothered. It uses up some freezer stuff too so counting jt as a win.
This month I’m up to £53 in surveys and Vinted so I’m quite happy with that. I await confirmation of another £8 from a snowsuit that was collected earlier. Why oh why do people wait so long to click that an item is okay?! People!

Avoiding a takeaway is a definite win and £53 for the month already is fab 👌
