Sounds like something my son would do too @dawnybabes - i think I’d definitely begrudge paying full price if that was the case. Still on the fence about it but that could be due to lack of head space.

Yesterday I called the garage early and ending up running round before work so I could be prepared to drop the car off yesterday ready for today’s MOT. I went from school drop off to checking tyres, popping into Sains, collection from chemist and an impromptu BP check.

I finally submitted my flexible working request (to formalise majority WFH) and had a chat with colleague about potential cost cutting at work. We’re the heavy lifters when it comes to workload but this can’t be said for other members of the team. A watch and wait situation I think. Tbh it’s disgraceful how little some people do so about time there’ll be scrutiny. My plans won’t change. Save and prepare for the worst!

Update: MOT went through with a couple of advisories for rear tyres. I got new front ones before the snow came earlier this year but I’ll book them in so they can order the cheaper ones in for me. One for the to do list and only £50 down today.

Half day of work meant I had time to take the kids for ice cream after school. Even better, they didn’t drip any down themselves 🥳

This morning I woke up to an email advertising Christmas activities “book now!” On consulting with mum-friends, there’s a few already advertising so they’re starting to book.

i wrote a list of anticipated larger / one off things to pay for the other day. This was not on the list!

Here I was thinking I was good wondering about making summer plans 😂

Praying on FOMO with these Christmas adverts already. As soon as something is announced my phone starts pinging as the parents WhatsAp chat springs to life! Got to get our 2 through the end of year activities first.

Oh yes! I booked for a zoo thing that we’ve done a couple of times before, off peak option naturally!

DD3 gave a firm no for Santa and his story so I’m happy with that. DS8 doesn’t believe anymore (well, most of the time).

I have an urge to just pay for all of the things on my long list to get them out of the way. We’ll see if I can hold off the car tax when it arrives until I get paid. Costco renewal can wait until I go there.

We had an evening trip to M&S and Clarks and spent £13 on new school trousers and £16 on sandals. I very rarely get their feet measured and there were no shrieks or tantrums. I never go shopping normally so happy to get them off the list with no fuss. My replacement jeans will have to wait until they get more stock in (preferably online!)

Now being sat on until I sort breakfast so better go!

Edging towards pay day but having “paid myself” first, I’m trying to make sure it stays that way. I’ve food in the cupboards and fuel in the car so I think I can get away with a small top up shop prior. To make doubly sure I’ve request a refund from a toll account I have a direct debit for. Another £45 to bolster the account!

I did spend an unplanned £63 on Amazon last night but aside from pre/probiotics, all things that were in my basket. Couple of bits for the little lady too for her upcoming birthday.

Pay day tomorrow so I’ve cleared my current account in readiness. I think it’s going to be an expensive month. Car tax, dentist, birthdays. Damn. Make that multiple birthdays.

Okay, the positives.. we went to the parade yesterday and made it home safely. My son was very excited and we managed to be quite efficient in terms of time taken. Horrific news later though. We ended up going to bed late so I’ve had a child sleeping on me for the past couple of hours catching up.

She’s waking so I’d better go.

Pay day finally. I took my son to activity camp, daughter to my mum’s and my husband out to breakfast. It’s rare to get to eat uninterrupted so I wasn’t missing the chance. Then it was back home to chores and admin, trip to the tip and mini supermarket.

Managed to avoid getting a takeaway today and instead skipped straight to crumble and custard. The kids ate properly so that’s the main thing and avoided spending £25 out of laziness. I have just spent £21 on new trainers for the boy (discounted from £28, free delivery) so rather more tangible benefit. I also need to find him new wellies. (Top tip: avoid scrabbling around on your hands and knees when out with children and just make them wear wellies to soft play etc.)

We were at the parade as well but back home safely and oblivious to what had happened until a friend from work text.

Well done on avoiding the expensive takeaway, crumble and custard sounds like a much better idea 😋
