Ohh are you? Would they bring the book down on you hard if it happened to someone who Is/was a cop?runforlife said:You're at the moment now when it could go either way for you. As an ex cop I would expect the process be issued within a couple of days. First class post. So you would normally receive your NIP within a week. Of course the law allows up to 14 days. Are you the reg keeper as that will alter things relating to time?
When I got issued three points before, it got delivered straight away within a few days. I am the registered keeper and only driver on policy. So with that being said, and the fact I’ve received them in the post before. You’d think I would have received it by now? It didn’t happen in the force I live in tho. However, it is the neighbouring county / district. I live in Lancs and it happened in greater Manchester0 -
Also, if it turned out I was speeding over 50.. is it still a NIP I receive through the post?0

Yes. If the vehicle was not stopped at the time either the driver or the Registered Keeper must be served with a NIP within 14 days of the alleged offence. As well as that a request for the drivers details will have to be served as the police do not know who was driving.0 -
So I should receive two forms of paperwork in the post within 14 days?TooManyPoints said:Also, if it turned out I was speeding over 50.. is it still a NIP I receive through the post?

also, in addition, do you know how long the police van speed camera has to look at your car before it can register? Or is it instantaneous?
apologies for the questions0 -
No. You should receive one form of paperwork. The two documents are sent in the same envelope and are usually printed on the same sheet of paper.
Readings are instantaneous.1 -
Okay thanks. I’ve just looked now. The last speeding 172 form I received, I received 6 days after the offence- and that occurred in North Yorkshire and I’m in lancs.
on this occasion, it happened in greater Manchester and it’s already been 7 days. I’m just clutching at straws now -_-0 -

Sorry it’s taken so long to reply / update. I am a bit weird and superstitious and didn’t want to reply before the 14 days were up!
The speeding offence occurred on Saturday 20th March approx 16:00. Travelling between 45-50 in a 30 zone. Silly I know. My dashcam said I was doing a maximum of 49 upon watching it back. And obviously today’s date is 08/04/2021- which is more than 14 days after the offence.
Now, the interesting part. I’ve read all over the web, and I’ve read different answers / opinions on the fact that you should receive the paperwork through the post within 14 days of the offence- otherwise it may be invalid and therefore I wouldn’t have to pay / accept the fine
I’ll just provide my situation just in case the answer is different for mine as there’s been bank holidays - good Friday (02 April), Easter Sunday (04 April)& Easter Monday (05 April)
I have had speeding fines / 172 / NIP through the post on two other occasions over the length of time I’ve been driving. One of those occurred in Lancashire (home force) and the other in North Yorkshire (1.30hr away).
The car is on a PCP deal and I have had this car for a year and a half- the car was brand new. I am the only insured driver on policy
I have resided at this address for 4 years and have had no issues receiving previous traffic penalties in the post.
Does anyone know Where do I stand now? As I have not received any of the paperwork through the post yet!

Are you the registered keeper, with the V5C in your possession, with your name and address on?Arsenal2019 said:The car is on a PCP deal

Might be a silly answer... but I’m not sure. I presume I would when they gave me all the paperwork when I signed for the finance and took the vehicle ? I guess I’ll have to dig out all paperwork and have a look for a definite answerAdrianC said:
