On what grounds can I reject a new car?

In the next few weeks I'll be taking delivery of a new Land Rover - a brand not known for its reliability even when there isn't a pandemic.

I'm getting a little nervous that it's going to be a lemon and wanted to be prepared.  So on what grounds can I actually reject a vehicle?  I'm guessing something small like a dent or a rattle wouldn't be enough?  What is the time limit?

And is it reject and walk away?  Or can I reject it and ask them to build me another?
I rejected a new JLR car, it’s infinitely easier if you follow the finance companies rejection process. They have the final say.
I’m buying cash which means I won’t have that luxury. You don’t happen to have a link to the finance company’s terms for rejecting a vehicle do you?
If you want links I suggest you read the following from the Consumer Rights Act:

    https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2015/15/part/1/chapter/2/crossheading/what-statutory-rights-are-there-under-a-goods-contract/enacted

    https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2015/15/part/1/chapter/2/crossheading/what-remedies-are-there-if-statutory-rights-under-a-goods-contract-are-not-met/enacted
Finally some information rather than opinion on my choice of vehicle!  Thank you.

So who decides what is "satisfactory quality"?
You have a strange attitude for someone buying something so expensive.
Not sure I understand your point. Are you suggesting that when spending so much money one should be more forgiving of potential issues?
I'm suggesting maybe you shouldn't spend so much when you have doubts. You're obviously not that confident in your purchase.
So your opinion seems to be that I have three options:
    a) Spend £77,000 to get the car I want but do no research into how I can resolve possible problems
    b) Buy a Lexus (yawn) and still do no research into how I can resolve possible problems
    c) Go without a car to guarantee I have no problems with a car

Not my options but then I'm not the one looking to spend £77,000 and asking about rejection before I've even got it.

£77k is bloody strong money for a Slovak-built LR...
    £10k of options on the top-spec Disco, £5k on the top-spec D110 (excluding the "X" version), or a D90 X.

Why is the fact it's built in Slovakia relevant?

Ask Sonos, not me. He's the one who thinks it makes rejection likely, because the factory's only being operating for three years. But, then, he didn't even know what country it was in...

I'm merely suggesting that, for the money he's apparently paying, it can only be a very small number of cars at the very, very top-end of their model ranges.
    Reasonable build quality expectations from a £77k top-spec Disco or Defender don't vary from a £53k entry-level Disco, or a £44k entry-level Defender.

Only insofar as it's not a factory Land Rover have used before (as far as I'm aware).  Every Land Rover/Range Rover I've bought has been built in the UK.  I'm sure it'll all be fine, and I've purposely held-out ordering for a year to allow any glitches to be ironed-out, but there's no harm in checking one's facts.

It's a greenfield state-of-the-art factory that's a league ahead of any of the relics they have in the UK.

The first discos all had their bulkheads drilled for air con. The non air con vehicles developed leaks. Solihull's solution was to put an extra person on the track to fill the hole with bathroom silicone and your worried about buying a vehicle built abroad.

I presume you mean Disco 1s, back in the 1980s, rather than the current Disco 5s...?
I'd be astonished if you could spec D5s without aircon.

If so, then it might be worth remembering Land Rover have been through a decade and a half of BMW and Ford ownership since those Rover Group days, even before the last 13 years of Tata...

    *you're

I'm apprehensive about buying from a brand I have come to trust who are now using a different factory.  I don't care if the factory is in Slovakia or Solihull, I'm just aware something is different this time around - and that's on top of the pandemic.

I know nothing of this factory - it might be the best in the world with 20 years behind it or it might have only been working for 12 months and be a mess.  I'm inclined to assume LR have done their homework and it'll all be fine.

But it's not something you need to worry about - it's my money.  Unless you can offer some advice on grounds for rejecting a car, I don't see why you're getting your knickers in a twist.

As it stands you have no grounds to reject it.
