On what grounds can I reject a new car?

I'm getting a little nervous that it's going to be a lemon and wanted to be prepared. So on what grounds can I actually reject a vehicle? I'm guessing something small like a dent or a rattle wouldn't be enough? What is the time limit?
And is it reject and walk away? Or can I reject it and ask them to build me another?

So who decides what is "satisfactory quality"?
a) Spend £77,000 to get the car I want but do no research into how I can resolve possible problems
b) Buy a Lexus (yawn) and still do no research into how I can resolve possible problems
c) Go without a car to guarantee I have no problems with a car3 -
£77k is bloody strong money for a Slovak-built LR...
£10k of options on the top-spec Disco, £5k on the top-spec D110 (excluding the "X" version), or a D90 X.0 -

I'm merely suggesting that, for the money he's apparently paying, it can only be a very small number of cars at the very, very top-end of their model ranges.
Reasonable build quality expectations from a £77k top-spec Disco or Defender don't vary from a £53k entry-level Disco, or a £44k entry-level Defender.1 -

williamgriffin said:The first discos all had their bulkheads drilled for air con. The non air con vehicles developed leaks. Solihull's solution was to put an extra person on the track to fill the hole with bathroom silicone and your worried about buying a vehicle built abroad.
I'd be astonished if you could spec D5s without aircon.
If so, then it might be worth remembering Land Rover have been through a decade and a half of BMW and Ford ownership since those Rover Group days, even before the last 13 years of Tata...0 -

I'm apprehensive about buying from a brand I have come to trust who are now using a different factory. I don't care if the factory is in Slovakia or Solihull, I'm just aware something is different this time around - and that's on top of the pandemic.
I know nothing of this factory - it might be the best in the world with 20 years behind it or it might have only been working for 12 months and be a mess. I'm inclined to assume LR have done their homework and it'll all be fine.
But it's not something you need to worry about - it's my money. Unless you can offer some advice on grounds for rejecting a car, I don't see why you're getting your knickers in a twist.0 -
