You've just made it a new thread again!! I'm going to tell you about my aldi three bird roast now - from last year. It was minging, all the birds cook at different times, some were too dry, and the stuffing was horrible. Didn't slice properly, thank god it was a practice run before christmas!!0

For some reason, the idea of three different meats mixed together makes me feel weird.
(Although god knows how many different animals are in the burgers I eat from a well known establishment...)
Would you eat a lamb, wrapped in a pig, wrapped in a cow?:rudolf: :rudolf: :rudolf: :rudolf: :rudolf:0 -

Depends on the cut - for example a beef fillet, wrapped in boned lamb leg, wrapped in pork belly sounds awesome!! :rotfl:0 -
I would eat a cow/pig/sheep combo. with mint sauce, yourkshires and apple sauce.!!0

You get what you pay for !!!! We bought one last year from a reputable butcher and it was excellent and will be ordering another this year.
Do not let these cheap 3 bird roasts put you off, spend a little more and get a decent one.0 -
We had the Aldi 3-bird roast last year and it was OK, but I wouldn't get it again... If you've already bought one I'd suggest not having it for Christmas day unless you want to be a bit disappointed!MFi3T2 #98 - Mortgage Free 15/12/20110

I don't think it matters how much it cost, to be honest, the three bird roasts are way overpriced anyway, from anywhere other than Aldi that is!! its the fact that the birds don't all cook at the same time so some bits are dry. i'll stick with seperate goose/turkey this year!!0

The one we cooked last year was certainly not dry, all the meat cooked perfectly and it cost us a similar price to a free range goose or turkey.0

I can't imagine the Aldi 3BR will be remotely interesting. Tried a Lidl goose crown last year and it was very un-memorable. Supermarket versions are overpriced - the best deal as someone mentioned above is to find a decent butcher and have them make one for you or, as I'm going to try this year, buy your favourite bird, have the butcher bone it out, and then pack it with just the breast fillets of other birds (eg: boned duck with chicken and pheasant breasts inside). Easier to do and you can customise it to your liking - more gamey meat, or more light.
I also don't like the idea of having one bird's skin inside the roast where it won't brown up, so I'll be using skinless fillets.
The other thing to do is make sure the veggies, sauces and gravy are really good, and no-one will notice the meat!
Have a great Xmas dinner whatever you do.0
