Three bird roast.....any good deals?

 I am trying to find a supplier of a fresh three-bird roast in the Ipswich area...who is not going to rip me off because it's a novelty type of Christmas fayre.

I've had the most ridiculous quotes: £17.50 per kg..or....£100 for a 6kg roast.

Is there a money saving way of enjoying this type of meat without breaking the bank?

Comments always appreciated.

I've just bought one. Its in my freezer. Looks nice too.
  • You could DIY - Hugh F-W probably has the recipe on his website somewhere as he did one in the early RC series - not that difficult to bone out a pheasant, chicken & turkey then stuff one insde the other using good HM stuffing as a gap filler.

Roast low and slow to prevent drying out.

If I remember correctly, He did a TEN! bird roast. Must admit, I did buy the three bird from Aldi last weekend.

Why would you spend over £100 on meat, and then freeze it?

We get ours from our local organic butcher, that way it's made to order & we can choose the birds; duck,Capon chicken & pheasent this year, the stuffing flavour; cranberry, and the size; enough to feed 8 people. We had the same last year & it cost £38 & was sooooo delicious. Sorry to be a snob but Christmas meat shouldn't come from a supermarket!! I'll get my coat now.....:o

    Has Aldi still got them?
My daughter laughed when she saw the TurDucken on a program last night. I would love to get one of these for New Years day.

Meat's not JUST FOR CHRISTMAS - If you HAVE to get meat from a supermarket at any time of year it should be UK sourced free range / low intensity farmed / welfare assure meat.

It doesn't HAVE to be expensive - just eat less meat.

I'm feeding 9 people (2 adults & 7 kids) and, for example, can get 3 meals from a very large (or two medium) chickens or two meals from a leg of lamb.
