Legally should you have a path outside your home before the road?

And ..... are you getting it cheap enough compared with the other similar houses to make putting up with this worth it to you?1 -
No we are getting it at the same price as others0

Is there pedestrian access past the house?0

Then you have a problem. You are buying something which will be more difficult to sell than other similar houses for the same price. If you do not intend moving anytime soon you could be okay. Is this your forever home?0 -
No only vehicle access outside my house0

That house and set up was almost identical to a property we viewed, I had dismissed it on Rightmove photographs as was not happy that there was no gate and you just stepped straight out onto pavement with the road in front of you, not a main road just a through road to other streets in the area. My husband booked a viewing with me moaning in his ear on the way to meet EA that the road concerned me as we had 3 children under 6 years of age. Got there, loved the property, realised the frontage wasn’t a concern and lived there for 10 happy years, didn’t even lose a kid to a traffic issue either, so win win.In fact, we barely used the front door, only to visitors. Our main entry and exit was from back door into driveway, then into car and away we went. Is this something you could consider? Using back door?7

Yes this is our forever home however anything can happen in the future that’s why I wanted to ask about this it’s more of a safety concern for my daughter0

How many houses past you in the cul de sac? This is the state of new build estates. We actually had one like yours back in 2006 and the road wasn't a road at all. It was a shared drive for 8? houses with no traffic flow to speak of.I have a photo of my kids aged 5 and 1 in the middle of the 'road'. There was no real danger. The problem was never the road, it was more the general lack of parking!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Agree with Doozergirl - culs de sac (cul de sacs?) can be fabulous for kids. Hopefully you'll have decent neighbours who don't mind children "playing out" there. Any danger should be minimal.2

The back gate also leads onto the road with it being an access road for parking for other residents I believe it will be a quiet road however I wasn’t sure if it was a legal requirement to have a pathway. The other properties have a half fence and gate out the front but ours is open plan. The double drive is to the left and the back garden to the right of property I’ve attached the photograph so you can get a little understanding0
