Legally should you have a path outside your home before the road?

Hi we are in the middle of buying a new build property we have just realised we are the only house where you step out of your front door straight onto the road. Does anyone know if legally they have to put a pathway? I have a little girl and I am nervous she will run onto the road any advice is appreciated. Thanks

No it's not illegal not to have a pavement outside your home.3

No, there is no legal requirement to have a footpath.
If you don't like this one not having one, ask to transfer your reservation to a different property.3 -
Thanks both all other properties the same style have a path outside do you think this would depreciate the value if we ever decided to sell? We love the house and location and are ready to exchange however this is the only thing on our minds as we thought we would have a wall and gate like the other properties. Thank you again for advice0

Its not illegal and used to be fairly common, some of the Victorian back to back houses in Leeds also have no pavements. It is quite strange for a new build though."You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "1

Well that's a new one on me, really can't imagine the actual road starting on my doorstep. Would be an absolute deal breaker if it was me, and I'm genuinely surprised that it could be considered acceptable on safety grounds for a new build.12

If your little girl is prone running out, a 4 foot pavement is not going to help much unless there is also a barrier. That's why schools have barriers between the pavement and the road.

There is one paving slab and then the road, it probably wouldn’t be too bad if they put a small fence with a gate but it’s literally the paving slab and then the road open plan.0

I am surprised that PP would be granted without a path. You need to check the plans on the council planning portal.
