The car passed yes it did ... but no one seems to grasp the mot is void ...it’s not for my car ! it’s got a different VIN on it ... it’s got hers on !williamgriffin said:
They didn't check the vin, so what the car passed. Tidy up the paperwork and move on.Rosie1001 said:I do have a test cert with my number plate on , as well as a totally different VIN
same as other lady has .. she doesn’t want to swap and let them REALIGN in their words the paperwork , her mileage ..service history etc is nothing like mine...
this mot issue is very serious ...I don’t think you grasp that they have falsely mot both cars with Out established they had the correct vehicle ,
my question is how could they do this ..this is a main dealer , a small independent garage discovered the error immediately ... VOSA have strict guidelines to follow and they have not done that , not just on my vehicle but the other ladies vehicle
Or do you really want some money?

All you need to do is get the dealer to correct the vin issue with the DVLA and possibly get you a new plate.0 -
The mot that’s on it now is void , the dealer even said that as vin / number plate don’t correspondwilliamgriffin said:

So get the admin sorted and re test it. It's not the drama you're making it out to be.Rosie1001 said:

It is a serious issue , I’m not making into a drama
How did they mot it is the question?? They have broken VOSA guidelines ,
no one seems concerned with this ... it’s a serious issue to mot a vehicle thats not been correctly identified... it’s classed as a major not minor with VOSA
I’ll end this now as you all obviously think this is trivial, hope it never happens to you or a family member !0 -
It's a minor issue and a simple mistake with two new cars. The wrong plates were put on them and a second error was made by going off the plate displayed on a car and not it's identity.Rosie1001 said:It is a serious issue , I’m not making into a drama

There are no no safety issues and no ones life has been put in danger so let the dealer sort the admin and get your car back.1 -
Was send this via email from the garage who tried to mot yesterday

Of course it can. It can be tested on the VIN alone. It's how imports are tested, before they have a UK registration.Rosie1001 said:I can’t get my car tested , my car doesn’t exist on VOSA mot system , the vin number and reg does not correspond so a test can’t be doneWe both can’t ignore the paperwork , we can’t sell the vehicles in the future as it stands , then paperwork and the cars don’t match , so even if we could sell ..service and mot history is void as it is now
You are massively overthinking this.
You have a V5C with the VIN of her car. She has a V5C with the VIN of your car.
The two of you simply swap V5Cs and plates.
The two of you then get the cars re-tested.
The two of you each get a letter from the dealer explaining the swap. You file that with the service docs predating the swap.
That's it. End of. You have matching car and V5C, and you have service history docs.0
