So you keep your car, there is nothing wrong with it, and you like it, where's the problem? So the number plate is different, I couldn't tell you what mine is without a reminder glance.Or do you want compo- how much and what for?I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science)

facade said:I'd get the identity sorted, the dealer to sort out the service records and keep the car If I liked it.The alternative is the dealer buys it back- presumably at trade price and you have no car, or the dealer buys it as a part exchange against a new one.Don't worry about the past 6 years, nothing happened and you weren't worried at the time.Next time check the V5 is correct when it arrives. I'm like Fred- I expect "professionals" to get things wrong, and I'm rarely disappointed
I had a brand new yellow diesel Harley Davidson once according to the V5, and it was actually black and petrol,,,,

It’s not about compo ...
my car was mot by the dealer illegally ...they did not correctly ensure they had the right vehicle ..when you put my chassis number in and number plate , it comes up no such vehicle found !How do I have 3 mot certs for past 3 years then ! They are worth nothing , they are void , including this years cert !0 -
So.
What.
Do.
You.
Want?
You have a test cert with the plate that's on your car on it, right?
And you have a V5C with the same plate on?
But when you put that plate into https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-history no MOT comes back?0 -
I do have a test cert with my number plate on , as well as a totally different VIN
same as other lady has .. she doesn’t want to swap and let them REALIGN in their words the paperwork , her mileage ..service history etc is nothing like mine...
this mot issue is very serious ...I don’t think you grasp that they have falsely mot both cars with Out established they had the correct vehicle ,
my question is how could they do this ..this is a main dealer , a small independent garage discovered the error immediately ... VOSA have strict guidelines to follow and they have not done that , not just on my vehicle but the other ladies vehicle0 -

Or do you really want some money?0 -
Yes, yes, yes. We've established the tester didn't look at the VIN plate like he should have. Bad tester. No biscuit.
You have an MOT and V5C that match the plates on the car. If you're that worried about the MOT, just get it tested again somewhere else on Monday.
Now, how do you want to move forward?
Forget the mileage and service history and the like. It's irrelevant. You keep your paperwork. She keeps hers. You both make a note of what happened and when it was corrected. Job jobbed.
If the other owner doesn't want to simply swap plates/V5C, and you don't want to sell the car back to the dealer, then what resolution DO you want?

I just want my car .. the dealer has took it off me awaiting investigation
I can’t get my car tested , my car doesn’t exist on VOSA mot system , the vin number and reg does not correspond so a test can’t be doneWe both can’t ignore the paperwork , we can’t sell the vehicles in the future as it stands , then
paperwork and the cars don’t match , so even if we could sell ..service and mot history is void as it is now
she has also had her car illegally tested 3 times by dealer , this needs investigation surely !0
