Dishwasher ... upper cutlery tray

I think it’s hassle to lay out all the cutlery. Some say it gets it cleaner, but I don’t have any issue with a Standard basket. Height wise your plates will still fit and you get more in the bottom rack.
Our current dishwasher is integrated and came with the house we purchased ten years ago. It is probably 16 years old as that is the age of the house.
We have always found a lower basket to be fine for cutlery although we do rinse everything that goes in the dishwasher as there are only the two of us so we only run it every three or four days. That avoids rotting food smells building up.
Any implement longer than a standard knife and fork is laid down in the upper basket.A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".0 -
We switched from a basket to a tray when we got a new Bosch dishwasher last year - the tray is quicker to unload and so much more space efficient.0

We have a Bosch ecosilence with the upper cutlery drawer and we much prefer it to the basket, only minor problem we have is the spoons end up full with water when you accidentally put them face up. I like the way you can easily group the forks, group the spoons and the knives in a neat arrangement, making it super quick to unload.2

I've actually just gone from a slimline with cutlery tray at the top to a slimline with cutlery basket at the bottom.
I prefer the bottom basket.
Our dinner plates must be oversized, as we can't fit them at the bottom and pint glasses in the top in the cutlery tray machine. Either we.move the top drawer lower and it interferes with the plates, or we move it higher to avoid the plates and we can no longer fit pint glasses in.
If we didn't use pint glasses it would be ok, but we pretty much drink from pints solely. And the occasional mug for a morning coffee.
I wonder if it'd be ok if we had a "normal" width dishwasher as we could put the pint glasses at the bottom.
Edit: soft drinks and water in pint glasses not constant beer drinking.0 -

Have a standard size Bosch with the cutlery tray at the top. Everything fits in the machine, it's easy to load/unload & any plastic lids are trapped on there so they can't escape.0

I just put knives in one opening, spoons in another etc and that;s also a doddle to unload. Just grab the handful of things on one opening and chuck them in the drawer.
Shampoo? No thanks, I'll have real poo...0 -
People seem keen on Bosch? Miele is too expensive for my usage, I was looking at Bosch / Neff. Is there anything between them?No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.0 -

Against my better judgement of dealing with Currys eventually went for a Grundig from them for £329 with 5yrs warranty and can't fault it
ended up with this from AO £290 July 19 (£309 today)

We had a Neff for 20+ years and just bought a Bosch SMV68MD01G recommended by Which, with cutlery tray.
Fantastic after having the old style cutlery basket.
Bought from Currys as they had in stock at time £699.99 less Currys code of 10% =£629.99 less Blue Light discount of 5.75% = £593.76 less £30 off for rescheduled delivery. Total £563.76. Hopefully will get 7% from TCB.
Very pleased with it.The world is not ruined by the wickedness of the wicked, but by the weakness of the good. Napoleon1
