Dishwasher ... upper cutlery tray

Options
Looking at Dishwashers and some come with the upper cutlery basket .
Has anyone got one and how do you find it ??
we concerned it takes up to much room so you have lower the basket below then that will hit the plates in the bottom basket
Not intrested in Hotpoint/indieset/whirlpool

thanks

I've never seen an upper cutlery basket.

Is the upper cutlery basket vertical like the more usual lower basket or is it angled so cutlery doesn't need as much height?
A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".

    It’s a tray not a basket I think the OP means https://youtu.be/rKGhfeLGGI0

I think it’s hassle to lay out all the cutlery. Some say it gets it cleaner, but I don’t have any issue with a Standard basket. Height wise your plates will still fit and you get more in the bottom rack.

We have an upper cutlery tray and it is brilliant. We have not found it affects the other baskets in the dishwasher as it is small enough not to interfere but holds loads of cutlery safely.

I have a Neff and that has a tray at the top and works very well.

If you have a habit of packing the upper tray they can be slightly less effective unless it has the extra spray.

We prefer the upper tray to a basket taking up bottom tray space.

If you have quality cutlery it keeps items separate

Happy with our Beko also came with a wine glass holder.

We have an (and I question the year but possibly) 16 year old Miele.  It has a third tray. The third tray is a top tray purely for cutlery and utensils.  I would not be without it.

Each piece is individually laid and cleaned, no knives poking up when you open the door etc.....

I would never go for a basket cutlery tray ever again.

All this, plus you can get lots more in the bottom because it's not impeded by the basket.

The middle drawer is usually adjustable so you can alter according to what is in each drawer.

We've got two dishwashers and the one with the tray is my favourite.

Not sure which makes you have but ours have an adjustable 'top' (not the cutlery) shelf which is adjustable and (I only found out this evening) the lower basket moves down/up too!  Who knew!

I tried to put that but couldn't explain it so eloquently and gave up.  Agree with theonlywayisup as well.  So much safer than items sticking up in a bottom basket.

I went through exactly the same in mid '20 to replace a on old Siemens one - we found Bosch/Siemens at c.£600, a Miele one at a higher price and a John Lewis own brand.

Against my better judgement of dealing with Currys eventually went for a Grundig from them for £329 with 5yrs warranty and can't fault it
